Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWas in a very small courtyard room so not a lot of space, even travelling solo.
Great access point for exploring the Cairngorms. Great breakfast options!

United KingdomI was given a larger room than that booked, however this was a wet room en suite, when I would have preferred a bath with shower over. The bed was nit very comfortable either.
Really enjoyed the breakfast. All of the staff I met were polite, cheerful and well informed. The room was quiet being I the far extension which is reached through covered hallway.

United KingdomIt was listed as a small double room. The room size was okay, but the bed was more like a big single than a double, which made sleeping very uncomfortable. The layout of the room was terrible with the bed against the window, which meant the curtains hung over the bedhead, which I thought was very unhygienic. There was plenty of room for a normal sized double bed and I think the hotel should state the reason why they class it as a small double should be due to the size of the bed, not the room size. The main restaurant food was overpriced for the quality of the meal.
The facilities were good, we used the swimming pool, restaurants and bar. Great live music in the evenings. And the pizzas in the Woodshed were good.

United KingdomTiny room and not as clean as I expected with a constant smell of smoke along the corridor. The room was away from the main hotel and i assume was the reason for the competitive price. Dogs barking and people walking the corridors all night going to the external smoking area which was close by.
Great selection of food for breakfast. The reception area and dining area are very impressive but this soon disappeared when i went to my room.

United KingdomNot easy to access room . I was up narrow stairs and lugging suitcase etc not easy. Breakfast in dining room was not great. It is not a pleasant space and is more like a canteen than a dining room. That was the least favourable aspect of my stay.
Room was comfortable and well appointed. I was in a double but on my own. Might have not been so roomy for 2! The large lounge at the entrance is very attractively decorated and was a good social space. We had private dining space and it was the right size and the staff were very good.

United KingdomWe were 'upgraded' to a larger double room but seemingly moved to a room that felt like it was in the prison wing of the hotel. An extended annex in the rear that has no photos in the advertising of the stay.. It was far too expensive a stay for what it was worth
The evening dinner available in the reception bar was surprisingly good

United KingdomVery disappointed in this hotel, it was in a soulless, sprawling building. Basics like a towel rail and a toilet brush were missing. Shower was not great either. We stayed 3 nights and our room was not serviced. The restaurant was buffet style and noisy and impersonal and food rather like a motorway service station. We slept OK but spent as much time as possible away from the hotel. Very expensive for what it was.
Great location for exploring the area but otherwise disappointing. Adequate parking.

United KingdomWe were given the wrong info re evening meals on checking in. We were told the bar and woodshed were open for evening meals however we stayed on a Thursday and none of these were open. On going to the restaurant we were declined food as we hadn’t booked. Not ideal.
Lovely location. Clean hotel and comfy bed.

United Kingdom20 minutes standing in a queue to book in, with only two people in front of me, and half a mile of queueing people behind....shocking lack of staff. Both at reception and the bar area. No lemons or limes in the bar (they'd run out). No food served after 2030hrs, and we'd hill walked 20+ miles....not acceptable for a hotel in today's world. What this hotel needs is 'The Hotel Inspector' to come in and fix what could once again be a great establishment.
Location, clean, fresh towels, and bedding. Barman, 'Innes', or similar.

United KingdomOur room was too hot, the heating was off, we had the fans on, windows open and it still was impossible to cool down what really affected our ability to sleep well in the room.
I liked the atmosphere in the hotel. Especially the social areas, main lobby, restaurant etc. Food was good as well, we enjoyed our breakfast and main courses. However I would have liked having the option to have a la carta menu as well on top of the buffet.

United KingdomVery small bathroom, had to climb behind door to shut it. First room they gave me smelt of cigarettes so I requested to be moved which they did but room was small, bed up against the wall and not a lot of storage. Bed wasn’t comfy and could feel springs and I’m not a heavy person.
Nice hotel local to attractions and location good for hiking but close to shops if needed

United KingdomThe bedrooms are very tired and definitely need a little love and upkeep. There is also definitely a lack of staff. Only one front of house staff member on the woodshed bar, it was lovely weather and busy and a rather long wait for drinks.
The property had an onsite fun house and swimming pool so was great for kids. You can walk down to the river which was beautiful. The evening music was also lovely to chill with the family in the evening.

United KingdomWe didn't have breakfast because of the cost (we generally have a light breakfast but would be having to pay for full meal). Dinner was adequate, considering the cost, though a buffet does benefit folk with bigger appetites!
Location was ideal as we could walk into the forests from the hotel. The hotel decor was a little tired but it was really good value for money. It was a real bonus to have a pool free for guests.
