Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe knew where we were going, we are a very open minded couple, we knew what to expect, so when the salt in the shakers was a little “wet” we didn’t complain, we were 12 feet from the ocean, when the water pressure wasn’t what we had at home, we focused in the beauty that enveloped us. When we had to cover ourselves with mosquito repellent, we reminded ourselves that we were in their “territory” and we wanted to be there.
its simplicity, we knew the limitations of the property being in a National Park Area. But Casa Rural was just what we wanted in order to experience what’s living in this beautiful simple place, surrounded by the most beautiful turquoise waters and the vegetation that made it the perfect frame to admire the stars during the night. we

MaltaThe bathroom was not very clean, you had to ask to turn on the boiler before taking a shower in order to have warm water. One day the boiler broke and we had to wait quite a bit in order to have water. The could have provided more toiletries to make the bathroom more comfortable
Location is good (any place will be good because they are all beachfront) The guy (Chiquito) who welcomed us, was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite big. Amazing food, cooked by Haitian guy. The food was a surprise considering the facilities they have are very basic and the island is super savage. We stayed at the seafront room, you fall asleep and woke up with the sound of the waves. We loved the experience, 2 or 3 days there are enough though.

United StatesIf you are hoping for a resort or, frankly, for anything to run on time, look elsewhere. If you are hoping for island life, island time, island vibe...this is it. The housekeeping was sincere but ineffective. The meals were authentic and unprofessional. Nothing is perfect, but everything is worth it. Highly recommend, just let go of your expectations and pretensions. Bring a bottle of rum.
By the pictures, we expected individual bungalows. It was rooms in a bunk house. That said, it felt like adult dessert-island summer camp. Private rooms and bathrooms, basic meals that were plentiful and delicious, everything smelled of sun-screen and mosquito repellant, the bunk-house door opened on the beach. It was very rustic and super relaxed. Nothing but beach, vibes, and sunsets.

DenmarkIt’s very simple living. The water pressure is low and I think it’s sea water in the shower. Their is a lot of traffic from boats coming during the day bringing a lot of day-tourists walking around like it’s a zoo.
Very nice location on a beautiful beach! Quiet in the mornings and after 4-5 pm.

PolandWater was stinky, the pressure was not so high and sometimes there was no electricity. However remember that it may not be dependent on the owners but because of the isolated island.
The stuff was really good, in Bayahibe we first met with the owner who told us everything about the whole stay on the island and where we could pay for everything, including very big and tasty dinner later that day. Room was ok but of course you need to keep in mind that this is a wooden house on the beach so no hot water, a lot of mosquitos, conditions in general in line with what we may expect in such a place, which is an isolated island..

SloveniaThe owner Sara was somewhat unwelcoming, seems like she is just after your money and doesn't care what happens to you on the island. The comfort level is not very high, it gets crazy hot in the night, also there are A LOT of mosquitos, and sand flies.
The location is just on the beach, which is wonderful. The staff - guy named Chiquito is very friendly and always at your service. If you want to see the best beach in the whole DR (my opinion), it is just a 10 min ride with the mototaxi or 50 min walk.

SwitzerlandIt's full of mosquitos, bring a very strong repellent. The shower of the bathroom wasn't working, and the bathroom itself smelled very bad. As there is no transportation in the island, to visit different beaches you can rent bikes or motorbikes (they use it as a taxi), however it's very expensive - 15/20 USD for a 5minute ride.
It's a perfect little piece of heaven. Beaches are quiet, with crystal water and when the tourist leave you are alone on the island with the locals. Very safe for two women. The fish they cooked is the best one I have ever eaten, so fresh!

GermanyA lot of people left the resort because they suffered from moskito bites after one or two nights in their rooms. They couldn´t sleep! My room was ok.
I liked the fact of being very close to the beach. The rooms are basic but ok. All people that were working in the resort were very helpful and nice. Thanks!!

FranceThe house manager didn’t give us many information or tips about what to do, which we found by our own in a nearby cafe. The staff receiving guests on the island is friendly, but speak little Spanish/English (more French).
Location is obviously superb with beach in front of the door. Friendly environment and easy to know other people staying there.

SwitzerlandThe rooms are very simple and you can hear your neighbours quite well. The water of the shower is a bit salty. The wifi didn't work all the time. The price for a night is a bit to much for what you get. And if you book it with food, it's local food which is very basic, so don't expect too much.
Very close to the sea with all night wave sound. Peaceful and calm town where there are at night very few tourists. Chiquito the guy working there is very friendly and helpful.

LatviaCold water with low pressure is still there! (according to the previous comments) Together with boats tickets(18 USD one way) the price of one night staying was 144 USD for us. Room is absolutely empty, even on a bed only 1 sheet! No pillowcases! There are no stuff on the island to ask any questions, nobody waits you upon arrival. A lot of homeless dogs running around on island, demolished and abounded buildings next to the property.
Location is right on a beach! Sound of ocean with chicken koks in the morning are awesome!

United StatesThis location is paradise. The staff is so helpful and the scenery is unbelievably gorgeous. If you are looking for a luxury experience, this won't be your taste. If you ever went to sleep away camp as a kid and miss it, and want to recreate it in a tropical paradise, look no further. The meals were tasty, fresh and filling. The beds were comfier then I expected. We loved it here so much and can't wait to come back. Sara was so amazingly helpful. We were traveling with small children and my elderly parents so we had some specific considerations and Sara really came up with the perfect solution so we could access this unique travel experience. Thank you so much, Sara, for all your help and for being such a huge part of us creating one of our most special family memories. We're so grateful to have had this beautiful opportunity and we couldn't have done it without you and your awesome staff! I want to sing your praises and also tell no one about you so there's room for us in the future! 😂

Francethe rudeness of the owner, the state of the bathroom which one was absolutely not maintained. there was almost no water (cold of course, that doesn’t latter for me but better know it) , you definitely can’t take a shower with the little water which is a shame When you cole with children and you take swim bath in the sea. this room no worth more than 45$ for me. but as they are alone to offer room the take advantage of the client, Robinson himself were not paid for the same service on a lost island 😅 be careful ! if don’t have a paypal acount the owner will harass you every hour of the day to create one for the payment. if not you can try to pay by cash but ONLY at 8.30 am in the morning , NO flexibility at all NO bank transfer allowed ! We do the same job and never We could imagine working like that , it’s a shame the only star of this advise is for the pleasant staff : Thank you to Chiquito who tried to help us , he was Nice and patient with this situation We are disapointed because this Event ruined us our trip there better try to sleep to the next door hotel : THE SAONA BEACH HOUSE which one seems really more comfortable and certainly more flexible
the proximity of the beach and the sea, the nice staff Saona island is amazing
