The Helvellyn and High Street mountain ranges are right on the doorstep, which makes The Royal Hotel an ideal and comfortable base for walkers. The room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful mountain view! We ate dinner and breakfast there and the food was delicious! The staff was gracious and helpful. Will definitely stay here when we're back in the area!

The Inn On The Lake offers stylish en suite rooms with freeview TV, free WiFi and tea/coffee facilities. Some rooms have striking mountain and lake views. Our lake view room was large, and very comfortable. Fabulous scenery, just sit and enjoy the entire vista. A big bathroom with both bath and shower, and a magnified mirror....(I love that for putting on the makeup!) The breakfast was absolutely delicious, 100% to the breakfast chef and staff, all the staff were friendly and courteous and welcoming. We had dinner in the restaurant, again it was really lovely, and the waiter was very helpful in recommending a wine to compliment our main course. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to the beautiful Lake District.
