Location definitely not bad if you are visiting lake district and struggling to find accommodation. It's like a little gem where it is located, in a nice little local town. Facility is great, clean and tidy. Got everything we needed too. Host was really responsive too. Definitely will come back next time when we visiting the lake district.

Near the beautiful River Eden, in the ancient town of Appleby in Westmorland, this traditional 17th century coaching inn offers free Wi-Fi and en suite rooms.

The Royal Oak Appleby is rated as a 4-star Silver Inn by VisitBritain, the tourist board of the United Kingdom. Fully refurbished during 2008 and early 2009, all of the rooms have high-quality beds and en suite shower rooms.

I generally choose hotels rather than Inns, but was impressed by the value for money of this one so gave it a go. I wasn't disappointed! The room was very well appointed, clean & very comfortable. Bathroom was exceptional and large compared with a lot of hotels. We stayed at the Inn for evening dinner and chose the steak which was the best we'd tasted for a long time. Highly recommended! The breakfast too was very good. Overall, I could not fault our stay, would definitely recommend this Inn and would certainly choose to stay here again.

The little village location was beautiful. The pub itself is such a fun quirky old building and the novelty of ‘running it’ is definitely worth doing! Also strongly recommend contacting Tirril Brewery and getting a keg fitted!

Great location, very central to the village and close to many public footpaths. The house is very well equipped with cooking utensils, pans, oven, slow cooker, plates, glasses and cutlery. The beds are extremely comfortable and the neighbourhood is very quiet, which made for a very welcomed good nights' sleep, after a long walk. The house is dog friendly, so took my small companion - to note, dogs are not allowed on the bed and sofa, probably a reason as to why the house looks very new, clean and fresh.

The location was ideal as you could walk into town with the option of discounted food at the Crown and Cushion as also owned by the host. Nice comfortable accommodation with everything we needed for a short break. Very easy to access using the code for the key box which was given to me prior to arrival. Pets allowed so we could take our dogs with us and handy location to visit an elderly friend residing at the care home. Would definitely use again.

Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, really well cooked and plenty of it. Great location for day's out. We stayed in the cottage, everything you needed for a self catering break or the pub next door if you didn't fancy cooking, with delicious well priced food, plus very dog friendly, our dog got a little parcel with chews and treats and a welcome note from Cumin the resident dog. It was lovely to be able to have your breakfast with your dog in the lounge if you wished to. Really enjoyed our stay.
