This hotel was classy without being stuffy! The breakfast was amazing and the bar lovely with a roaring fire. The location was ideal with a handy carpark. It was also great to look at and we stayed in the Tudor part of the hotel.

The Townhouse, hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, The Church Street Townhouse is situated in Stratford-upon-Avon, 200 metres from Royal Shakespeare Company. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

I only spent one night but I am already wanting to return! The Townhouse is a gem - all of the modern conveniences coupled with exceptional style and historic atmosphere! The room was well appointed with just the right tasteful nod to Shakespeare. I love that the room included a mini fridge, iron, fan and hair dryer as well as a kettle and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. The decor is beautiful and the restaurant, bar and lounges are cozy and tasteful. I did not enjoy the food but I am sure it is excellent. From the moment you walk in, it is clear that you will be comfortable, welcomed and well taken care of!

Crowne Plaza Stratford-upon-Avon is a riverside hotel near Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre. The hotel offers modern rooms, a heated swimming pool and a riverside terrace.

The manager who was on duty in the bar and breakfast area next day was very professional, helpful and friendly to guests and staff. It makes such a difference to the atmosphere and smooth running in a place when a manager is like her. Loved the place in general too.

I can't believe the difference it makes to one of Shakespeare's plays to see it performed at the RST! It's a beautiful theatre, with tons of atmosphere, and makes the plays come alive. One tip is to book (cheaper) seats at the side, in the circle, and the visibility is very good indeed.

    Stages Shakespeare’s major plays.

Stages Shakespeare’s major plays. Quite good at big productions to suit a wider audience. Often big names. Good theatre, shop and refreshments. Big new tower to visit, and restaurant. Often have exhibitions. Good to go to any restaurant before or after a play.

Location was perfect, right by the river and only 5 minutes walk to the Royal Shakespeare theatre. The food in the restaurant was really good, one of the tastiest meals I’ve eaten in a long time.

This is a super little Guest House within easy walking distance of the town of Stratford on Avon and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. We felt very safe walking back from the theatre late at night, in well-lit streets (about 12 minutes walk). The room was very clean and comfortable, and the hostess was lovely. A really good breakfast is included in the price, including a vegetarian option. I can't recommend this Guest House too highly. Parking in Straford was surprisingly easy and resonable if you wished to drive in.

The house was a lovely Victorian town house beautifully converted and five minutes walk from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. It was tastefully decorated throughout, and all was spotless. The beds were comfortable and the room had en-suite, TV, and tea/coffee. Monika was a charming and friendly host and made us feel at home. Breakfast options were good and arranged at a time to suit us.
