The most beautiful place to stay and amazing grounds. Very comfortable beds. We are from Australia and it felt like we were staying at an English castle. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely walk to Donnington castle. So much to explore and see. Squirrels, a fox, swans, ducks, waterfalls, a little bridge… The staff were very helpful and friendly. I could talk about this place all day…so good!
The location, the views, the history, the restaurant.
Room was as described - King bed, big room, big bathroom. Views down the lawn to the lake were beautiful.
It’s a short 5-10 minute walk up to Donnington Castle and walking around the grounds is beautiful too. Plus a short 20 min drive over to Highclere Castle.
Fun fact: the golf course is the location of a civil war battle!
We stayed in the suite and it was fantastic - beautifully decorated, huge king sized bed and a lovely copper bath in the corner of the room. Dinner and breakfast were both great, and the staff were really accommodating at all times. Would definitely recommend. Lots of good walks nearby as well, up towards Donnington Castle.
We stayed in a double room in the Summer House looking out at the lake. A large, clean, very comfortable room and equally large, clean en-suite bathroom. The little alcove with 2 big armchairs was perfect for a glass of wine whilst watching the bird life down by the lake. The full English breakfast was delicious, it really set us up for the whole day. A relaxing place and a great location for which to visit Highclere Castle and Donnington Castle. The staff were friendly and helpful.
