The friendliest town and perfect weather , the Strand is the place to be. Townsville seems to be the place always overlooked by holiday makers, Great choice of restaurants overlooking Magnetic Island. People flock to Cairns in my opinion I hosed Townsville a very friendly place.

Townsville is a great place to chill out.

Townsville is a great place to chill out. It’s not commercialised but has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Anywhere down the strand is just gorgeous, take a couple of nights to relax over at magnetic island, eat your way around so many places that range from laid back eateries to fine dining. Hire a car and explore to riverway, billabong sanctuary, the museum, the mt Stuart lookout or if your keen walk up castle hill (or drive) or wonder down paleranda. It’s a place full of free activities especially for families to just enjoy the outdoors.

    Trip up Castle Hill good.

Trip up Castle Hill good. Strand excellent for atmosphere, views and food outlets. Handy to Magnetic Island - which is a trip in itself. Wouldn't want to be in Townsville mid summer! Cowboys football ground excellent and they beat the "Storm".

Townsville is delightful and very tourist friendly, there are good accommodation options, lots and lots of bars and first-class eateries and restaurants around the marina as well as the beach road strip - great for sunsets and sundowners. We really enjoyed our stay and will return.

The strand was the perfect place for our honeymoon. There was a lot to do right there without having to travel to far. Will b back again to do the things we didn’t get to do like mini golf n the Townsville 400 race track.

As, l was in Townsville for the Woman's State of Origin & the Supercars. I enjoyed the time there. Plus, Magnetic Island is only a short ferry ride away. Due, to the Supercar racing, there was the normal traffic delays, this was no real problem. There is a really good Fish & Chip shop within five minute walk of the motel.

Great location in a quieter part of Townsville, yet very close to the strand and Palmer Street (only a few minutes drive). Our apartment had stunning views of the water and a very spacious balcony. It was the perfect size for a family of three. We will definitely be staying here again! Love the bonus of a cafe downstairs for a nice coffee in the morning. The best part was the value for money. It was one of the cheapest accommodation we could find in Townsville that offered two bedrooms

The Strand Motel is the perfect location, right on the Strand and walking distance into town, with Coles right around the corner for any groceries you might need. The staff were friendly, and while it was a little outdated, it was clean with a comfortable bed and cold air con - just what you need in Townsville! The kitchette was small, but functional with a fridge/freezer of decent size. The Cafe offered large servings and wasn't too overpriced for breakfast.

The Vale Hotel is always our first choice for overnighters in Townsville on our way further up north as it is located on one of Townsville's arterial roads, is also close to a major shopping centre, a pharmacy, and if you're inclined to wet your whistle, a bottle shop. We love the security of a gated complex and the convenience of a short walk to delicious meals at the bistro. The beds are also super comfortable!

The room itself was excellent, including the view, the location is great if you want to be near the city center, but that’s not where you want to be in Townsville, it’s a ghost town with the strand being the optimal area which was only a short walk from the hotel. Staff were great.

The location was excellent. It was right on The Strand, close enough to the cafes yet peaceful at night. Our host was excellent. He made us feel welcome and provided helpful information about the property as well as local knowledge about Townsville.
