A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

People are friendly, it was easy, well-organised, and calm to enter the Australian border through the Melbourne airport (if compared to the stress/tension that was built up when leaving the Sydney airport). We really enjoyed the FREE train/tram that ran around the City, which covered most of the key visiting sites, and invited people to indulge in the city's entertainment.

I have to change to different Hotel room in Melbourne CBD due to AFL game on and I was told that FREE late check-out until 12pm if I was member of OAKS Hotel, but I was 11:30am and $20 was charged to my credit card to pay late check-out fees.
I also LOST my black Calvin Klein bag with my Apple I Phone and Samsung galaxy tablet on tram and I did NOT get back. NO SYMPATHY from OAKS Hotel late check-out fees was charged by OAKS William Street.

Property is on the 11th floor, serviced by a very fast lift. It was well presented and is a comfortable walk to Heidelberg Station (about 600m walk) with a 35 minute train trip into the CBD. The connection to the airport via Uber/taxi is about 35-40 minutes. Our host met us at the apartments and was very helpful in settling us in and showing us the layout of the apartments. Recommend this property for anyone visiting Melbourne but does not want to stay in the City but with the convenience of a quick train service close by.
The hotel is very nicely designed, bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel tv in the room also had free movies available without the need for streaming platforms. Location was ok- 14 minute walk from Skybus terminal in the city that connects travellers to Melbourne airport. Something to note: the hotel is on the outskirts of the central busy CBD area (approx 30-40min walk or 15 Min uber).
I love the location, just far enough out of the cbd to be quiet but easy enough to go in by tram when wanting more excitement. The view of the city and the cricket oval is so relaxing and has a charm to it. My favourite hotel in Melbourne!
Opposite train station , great for overnight visit to Melbourne good access to CBD and then on to airport. Hotel happy to check baggage in early and hold after checkout. Good breakfast
Arguably the best placed Hotel in Melbourne - central, on the River, easy walk to everything in Southbank & CBD
Facilities were excellent
Food quality was excellent
