Marel is located in front of the magnificent fully organized blue flag awarded main sandy beach of Rethymno town, next to various tourist attractions, just a few minutes from all possible amenities. All rooms have a fantastic unobstructed sea view and are a breath away from the beach promenade and its unique sunset view.

Neighbourhood information

The capital of the Rethymno Prefecture is Rethymno town and is an ideal tourist destination for visitors who wish to explore the rich cultural heritage and the natural unspoiled beauties of Crete. It is divided into the Old Town and the New Town which are both delightful and picturesque with a waterfront filled with lovely cafes, taverns and shops. The town which has much to offer is located on the north Mediterranean coast, between the prefectures of Chania and Heraklion. Even in modern times still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains, and narrow streets with wooden balconies. The Venetian Loggia and the municipal gardens are also some sites that can not be missed. The wonderful old town of Rethymno which borders the sea is situated in front of the modern part of the town. It is full of narrow stone-paved alleys and well preserved public and private buildings dating from the Venetian, Turkish and later periods. From the Medieval and Renaissance character of this beautiful town emanates a charming and magical atmosphere.
