Company information

Bolthole Retreats was founded in 2017 by Martin McWilliam and is based in Cheltenham. We are the leading independent agency for Cotswold holiday rental properties. We work closely with owners and housekeepers to ensure that guests have a truly memorable stay. We pride ourselves on our local knowledge, whether it be of a local farm shop, cycle routes or events. Our aim is to enable guests to have the opportunity to enjoy authentic Cotswold experiences, from the Cotswold experts, in a lovely Cotswold property that suits their needs.

Property information

Brown’s Cottage, in the historic Cotswold village of Charlbury, is a 3-story, 3-bedroom (sleeps 5), 2-bathroom luxury townhouse, with an enclosed, private patio for outdoor dining and relaxation. The cottage’s 17th-century features - oak doors, inglenook fireplace, internal exposed stone walls and oak beams - have been lovingly restored and perfectly compliment the modern amenities and beautiful palette of natural colours and textures. Charlbury is a lively market town with great pubs, independent shops, a deli, a local history museum and fantastic walking from the front door through the beautiful Evenlode Valley. Conveniently located just a minute’s walk from the centre of the village and ten minutes’ walk from Charlbury train station (built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1853), the cottage is on a residential road, with a small leafy park to one side, free on-street parking and a well-stocked food store across the road. Book with us to get exclusive discounts to top attractions and experiences.

Neighbourhood information

Charlbury is a small but lively and vibrant market town that has escaped the hordes of Cotswold tourists, making it a justifiable member of the ‘Undiscovered Cotswold Club’, yet it is only an hour from London and just 15 minutes’ drive from Soho Farmhouse. The town is full of historic 17th- and 18th-century buildings, has great pubs, independent shops, a local history museum and is in a beautiful setting on the meandering River Evenlode, with fabulous walks in every direction, including around the Charlbury Circular Route and along The Oxfordshire Way and The Cotswold Way.
