Tam coc is worth staying in for minimum 3 nights. We could have easily spent a week here - to be surrounded by natural beauty. Traffic was minimal at time we went (In May), so cycling around was amazing. However it was hot and humid weather. Lots of reasonably priced eating options at walking distance. Very tourist friendly place. Recommend boating in Tang An - longer duration for same pricing as boating in Tam coc.

A beautiful place, lots to see and would recommend at least 2 days in one area and 2 days or more in another. Lots to see beautiful sites, walks, nature,. Quiet and calm in some places, busy but lovely in others.
Do use a bicycle, znd cycle the rice fields, local Taxis or the grab cars.
Visit the bird Sanctuary but don't stay there. And do Tam coc boat ride...stunning, as is the walk to the dragon! Take your time if you can.
While touristy its also got many non touristy areas...slow down smell the roses and enjoy. So many great places to stay, to eat....preferred it here to Cat ba island!

A lovely, peaceful area perfect for getting out of the city and into nature. It's been wonderful to see the steps the municipality have taken to clean up the area and protect the natural resources. Huge improvement from a few years ago!
The town centre is vibey and best for travellers looking for a bit of a party. But Ninh Binh is surrounded by plenty of peaceful homestays that are perfect for relaxing.
The best attractions are Trang An boat tours (don't bother with the Tam Coc boats), Mua Caves and look-out point, and biking around the little roads.

Beautiful countryside with amazing mountain views and rice fields. So much to see and do. Just get on a bike and explore! We visited Trang An, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc Cave in two days. Wish we would have had time to see more.

Mama was so welcoming, one of the loveliest people you’ll meet! We arrived in the morning before check in and she helped us plan our day to get the most out of our time in Ninh Binh. She booked us a motorbike tour and the drivers turned up within 10 minutes of booking! The tour was incredible, as were our drivers, they were very friendly and helpful! Breakfast in the morning was also delicious, some of the best scrambled eggs we’ve had! Would definitely recommend Tam Coc Family Hotel to those visiting Tam Coc and the surrounding area!
Best value for money you will find. Room was a bit like a boutique hotel and seemed quite new or recently renovated - good view, clean with fridge, kettle and comfortable lighting. Bathroom is spacious and so much better than typical Vietnamese bathroom. Breakfast was great and big portion. The host doesn't speak much English, but is very cheerful and welcoming. I left something behind and she made sure to message me. I personally found Tam Coc a bit too touristy, but this is the best location if you want to stay in this village.
We had a horrible experience with Chu Thuong homestay
We book this hotel on 18 Mar 2024 night to stay because we had overnight bus from Hue – Tam Coc arrived 19th Mar 4 am
When we arrived no body at the homestay, we tried to called for receptionist and owner but no body answer so we have to wait 2 hours (4am – 6 am) in the cold and rain until we can’t wait and walk around to find other hotels

- Entrance was dark and slippery
wow, we didn't expect that. We felt at home right from the start. Super friendly and courteous staff. The hotel is located just outside Tam Coc, about 800 meters from the center with many bars and restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. In the evening it is nice and quiet here and you can really relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the town center. If we travel to Ninh Binh again in the future, this hotel will be our first choice. Absolutely recommended, again at any time.
Fabulous hotel, so much so I extended my stay. The view from the property is absolutely beautiful, you can walk to nearby restaurants/bars within 10 minutes but you are far enough away to feel like you're out in the country. Great pool, bungalows are comfortable and spacious, and the staff went above and beyond on multiple occasions - extending my stay, booking a bus, assisting with an excursion. If I ever get back to Tam Coc, I will be staying here again!
Wow, what a brilliant homestay! The hosts from start to finish went above and beyond and made our visit to Tam Coc one of our favourite destinations in Vietnam so far. Fantastic location near all the activities you desire to do and they are really helpful in telling you about what to do in the area. We hired a cycling bike to get around which was a great fun as the roads are quite quiet. Honestly, would recommend to anyone, we loved it here!! Thank you!!
We loved the place so much we even extended our stay! Everything is super clean, the food and a la carte breakfast is delicious, the staff is fantastic and the rooms are very nice and large. Also, they offer free bikes, which allows you to go to Ninh Binh or Tam Coc quickly.
This is the nicest place we stayed at during our vacation in Vietnam so far.
Last but not least, the price per night is quite cheap for what you get!
Room is big and arranged it creatively. Most of the facilities are there. Owner of the hotel is one of the rarest English-speaking guys we met in Vietnam. Owner is a good businessman, and he really promotes tourism. I had decided to stay for a night and leave for Ha Long Bay next morning. But he has showed things to do in Ninh Binh and arranged a taxi for a tour. With his help we could book a bus to Ha Long Bay.
Nice and clean hotel very close to all interesting places in Tam Coc. The staff was super friendly and kind. They also offered us free room extension till 15:00 the day we left. One of the ladies even offered to babysit our newborn baby while we were having dinner there (in a nice garden), so that we could enjoy the dinner! Really it was Vietnamese hospitality at its best. Recommended!

the hotel manager Phuc, is the most helpful person I have met in hospitality. Assisted us in our plans to see all of Ninh Binh. after checkout, he let us use the pool & shower facilities as we waited on our night bus.

The room was very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They organised my transportation from Hanoï to Tam Coc, Tam Coc to Mai Chau, and a full-day motorbike tour with a driver to visit the surroundings.

The staff here are incredible. The most amazing, kind and genuine customer service. The hosts took us to the local market, and taught us to make a traditional Vietnamese dish which was delicious. We also got extremely helpful advice on how to explore Tam Coc and Ninh Binh. Oh - and the breakfast each morning was huge and very yummy!
These cute cottages are centrally located, walking distance to everything. The rooms are oversized, clean, and best of all, quiet. Most importantly the staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. There are a lot of homestays to choose from in Tam Coc/Ninh Binh, consider yourself lucky if you are able to stay at this one.

Although the rooms do look like the pictures, I don’t think the pictures do the property justice as it also boasts indoor and outdoor restaurant seating which is also a major plus. I definitely recommend this hotel as a great stay when you are in Tam Coc!
Hotel is new and everything is very clean. In the room you will find comfortable bed and big bath with super view. The hotel team is very helpful and and they will try to help you whenever you need. To the centre of Tam Coc is 4km but hotel offer free bikes. Thanks to this you can explore all Ninh Binh area.

The place is new, nice, comfy, good wifi, good AC... No complaints. Just be aware it is a short bike ride away from ninh Binh and Tam Coc, but with a scooter, it was lovely. And the family that runs it are a delight.
