Santa Barbara is one of my favorite cities in California.
Santa Barbara is one of my favorite cities in California. It has a nice area for restaurants, bars, and shopping or just sightseeing. The pier is within walking distance as are the beaches. Very upscale but also very comfortable.

A very beautiful Spanish Colonial city. Also very expensive.
A very beautiful Spanish Colonial city. Also very expensive. I would recommend it for a honeymoon or couples. It is called the Riviera of America because of its beauty. Mountains, beaches, and hillside estates. The weather is generally good all year round. Montecito is where the Uber wealthy live. You cannot see the estates, and the beaches are private. If you like a good steakhouse, try Lucky’s in Montecito. The atmosphere and food are great. Also, a pleasant shopping surprise is the sweet village of Summerland, a 10 minute drive from Santa Barbara.

The beaches in Santa Barbara were Beautiful, the area felt safe, there was a variety of attractions to do, and see, you never got bored. There were various Restaurants to choose from, a lot on State Street. Everything was close and covenient, except parking, parking on streets, always seemed to be full. Had to use Parking Garages, which add up after a while. As for Shopping, State Street had many shops, and even shops on the side streets.

I’m biased. I lived in the area most of my life.
I’m biased. I lived in the area most of my life. I don’t like it now. State street is a tourist wasteland. There isn’t an by decent coffee. Wine tasting rooms are all there is, and the beach. It used to feel like a lot less concrete. Now it’s hard to escape.
I now only visit for the food that has managed to survive: Rusty’s Pizza, The Habit, some taco places (the batting cages place is awesome), …The food was the best in the world, imo. Insane value. Not anymore.

Excellent service and pleasant staff. Amazing location.
Excellent service and pleasant staff. Amazing location. I recommend that the breakfast display have an actual warmer as the food was cold even though we were up early. I.e. there was no flame or warmer under the metal container. Loved having access to bikes and took an early morning ride up to the historic Francescin site.
Is it worth $140 a night? Not really. But considering that’s about as cheap as it gets for Santa Barbara, it was a solid stay. Clean enough, comfy enough. Good location, in walking distance of a lot of stores/restaurants and only a couple minutes drive to downtown.
Hotel just a 2 minute walk to the beach.
Room was smallish but comfortable and loved the retro touches.
Was only here for a night and definitely wish we had planned for longer in Santa Barbara
