Large hotel on the side of the water, outdoor seating area on the banks which was great. The room was large, clean and was fine for our needs. Plenty of safe parking, some of it covered. Evening meal was a buffet which was good/very good and you could eat as much as you wanted. Beer was very nice too. Dining room was gorgeous as it had been kept original which is quite rare in Norway I found. Breakfast was good too.
Hotel Thon Sandven is in a beautiful location, in the quiet town of Norheimsund but with views of the fjord, Folgefonna national park and surrounding hills. The balcony rooms have a great view of all of the above. It’s a good base for exploring the area by rental car and has much more character than the more modern hotels in the area.
It’s also within easy walking distance of shops, eating places and a supermarket.
The breakfast was the largest and best free breakfast we have ever had at a hotel! The historic side of the hotel was fantastic for a coffee/tea break and meals. We had a very large (two-bedroom) suite in the newer wing of the hotel. It included a kitchen where we baked a supermarket pizza one evening. The balcony had a beautiful view looking down the fjord.
The staff was really kind and arranged everything in order for our late night arrival. We had just done the Trolltunga and were completely exhausted. However, the comfortable beds and a hot shower really did the trick. Breakfast was quite delicious and the hotel itself is incredibly beautiful inside. I will definitely stay here again!
Excellent location and view from our sea facing room with a huge balcony. This Hotel was the most memorable from our trip. Beautiful apartment, nice breakfast and view from Hotel of the Fyord and the city shall remain in our memory for a very long time. Also has free parking available at the premises
Location was great for trails and a short distance to Norheimsund by car and access to Hardanger fjord. Bergen about an hours drive away. Apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
we loved that the hotel was next to lake and we had a beautiful view. It’s nice short walk to the beach and centre. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast had so much variety. parking free.
