Kobe is a very nice, spacius and modern city, we anjoyed the NunobikiWaterfall and the fact that you can combine a nature walk/hike in a city vacation. Also the Kobe Animal Kingdome is one of the best zoos we'v been to. Kobe is a great base for a visit in Aarima Onsen

Often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, Osaka, Kobe is an absolute gem of a city. It has a multitude of attractions, from the port and harbourside parks to the wonderful Nunobiki herb garden and hillside hikes on the other side of the city, to the old foreign merchants houses in Kitano Ijinkan-gai and the Motomachi and Sannomiya entertainment and shopping areas, there's a huge amount to see and do in Kobe. We gorged ourselves on amazing food, saw historic houses, enjoyed walking through nature, enjoyed food markets and took a harbourside tour. Bakery RIKI near our accommodation in Motomachi sold the most amazing pastries and Nankin-machi (Chinatown) had a wonderful, crowded, hectic atmosphere with hundreds of stalls selling cheap, absolutely delicious food. We will definitely visit Kobe again.

i travel to kobe for work regularly and usually don't do much sight seeing there; it is easy to find my way around, find restaurants and there is easy access to all sorts of places to visit in the kansai area; once we stayed at the outskirts of kobe, up the mountains, with stunning views of the harbour (private accommodation, sadly gone now) but there are some other nice places to stay in and around the city
Superior twin had a brock wall 300mm from window. No light, no air. Carpets we're filthy. Refusal meant a change of rooms to a Standard Twin with window into busy road. Noisy. No refund for being given a cheaper room. Carpet also filthy and stained.
On arrival we got strict instructions, but Japanese guests were not so instructed. They also got the best rooms and the foreigners got the worst.
There are better hotels at half the price. Best avoided.
Japanese culture expérimentation. Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Room : so much confortable and inspiring
Onsen : so nice and relaxing. Loved thé outside bath, and 2 types of bath room are available.
People : warm and caring
Arima is a 1400 years old charming town with many shops, typical sweets, many activites like a Ropeway and closed to Kobe. Easy to access. We loved the small train from arimaguchi to arima Onsen.
Japanese rooms are quite small, but this had a large bathroom and a very good, practical layout that allowed me to comfortably seat at the desk, at the coffe table, hanging clothes and have my luggage open without stumbling anywhere.. I liked the super central location, it was clean, and my room hat a window that I could open, which is great.
Nothing fancy, but a solid choice for nice Kobe.
It has 8 private onsen and the room I booked has an open Air bath. A short walk to the town centre through a short-cut path that the staff told us. Very comfortable spacious room. Best onsen hotel so far for me ! Plus the front desk staff are super friendly and helpful. He can speak both English and Mandarin which is very helpful to us who can’t speak Japanese.
I like the authentic Japanese family atmosphere and the close location to the Harbor and Kobe tourist center and Chinatown. It is indeed the best place to be for traveling to Kobe for the first time. I also like that I can leave my luggage at the location early. I like the numerous rooms for option. I love the spacious rooms in Wafuku style.
Great customer service, location, atmosphere, and facilities. We have stayed here twice, the first time the price was much higher. This time, we paid a much lower price which was a really good value for the money.
It is the last Odesa western hotel in Japan! I enjoyed dinner and breakfast very much.
Efficient staff with handy Japanese-English translator in hand.
Very good for comfortable overnight rest.
Highly recommended
Clean room, and the bathroom in the 22m2 room was spacious enough to bend forward to sit at the toilet properly. All the essentials laid out nicely.
Bed so very comfy.
I know and use the Okura often wehn in Japan. I was a fitmess membe at their hotel and, of course the service and attitude was alway perfect. The Kobe Okurr is not very central but has a decent view onto the harbour or the Roko mountain, if you are on high floor. Quyality of food is good.
Helpful staff. A poor guy was sick and the staff went out-of their way to help him translating his symptoms into Japanese so he could go to the hospital for treatment. Falling sick could happen to any traveller and nice to know there is a place in Kobe who go out of their way to help
Breakfast is a traditional Japanese breakfast but it was really good. The room is off good size and the amenities are everything you can ask for. Also location is great as there is a nearby 7/11 and good restaurants. Be mindful that if you pay at the property you can only pay by card
Beautiful hotel and spacious bathroom (compared to other Japanese hotels). Big choice amenities - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hairbrush, bath salt, variety of teas and many more. I wish room has an extra square meter, but it was not a big deal.
Very near the sannomiya station connecting almost all the major railway lines…restaurants and other amenities just a few step near and one of the oldest temples in japan is just opposite the hotel…rooms are quiet big and clean and comfortable
I highly recommend this hotel! The personnel is so friendly and welcoming. They spent hours with me to solve my problems (lost my bag on the train) cause I couldn’t speak Japanese. Thank you sooo much !! And the view is amazing 🤩
As great as the hotels are in Japan, Taketoritei Maruyama surpasses them all. Throughout my travels in several countries, I have never experienced the superb hospitality provided here. Excellence unmatched.
