It's a pretty town and at one end of a walking/cycling Greenway with Athlone at the other end (about 46kms). I could definitely see taking my bike on the train from home to Athlone, biking the Greenway, taking a day or two to visit Mullingar, then the return trip to Athlone and home.

Mullingar is a very lively & musical town - always musical events going on. I was meeting an old friend for carvery lunch in Bloomfield. Although we dined at 12.15, the food was only warm, not hot! Dining situation was in the bar/lounge with beautiful view of lake & very comfortable seating. Serving staff extremely pleasant.
Mullingar is very easy to get around - fairly compact, but own car necessary. Plenty of parking available.
Next time I would demand to view my room before payment to make certain that I was not dumped in a childrens' room! There are other hotels.

I am from Mullingar so can highly recommend it.
I am from Mullingar so can highly recommend it. Lovely shops, bars and restaurants, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Lots to do in the surrounding areas. Easy access to motorways, public transport to Dublin. Close to lovely lakes and stately homes.
Stayed at Keyfield House for the last few days. We were given a warm welcome by Phyllis and appreciated the quiet house as we'd just flown in to Ireland. The room we were provided was just so comfortable and we had beautiful views through all our windows. Enda is a great host, the house feels like a lovely home away from home.
P.S: We enjoyed the beautiful continental breakfast with fresh fruit. Thank you Enda for the wonderful effort.
Great hotel very friendly and helpful staff. Food top notch. Rates for rooms are excellent. Have stayed there 3 times already and going back down in july. Love everything about the hotel the staff the food the rooms the rates and love mullingar people so friendly. pints are 5.50 across the board unlike in dublin. Would highly reccommend the greville arms hotel.
Had a lovely stay here. It's a beautiful old building and i didnt realise that. I think more should be written/told about the history of this glorious building. The bar nextdoor (attached to the hotel) was amazing Steve the barman very friendly. Brilliantly placed in the centre of town. Free carpark a bonus. Overall a good stay.
We were really delighted with our spur of the moment stay in Mullingar. We chose The Bloomfield Hotel online for value, and we were surprised with the beautiful location, the excellent facilities, the friendly professional staff and found the whole stay very pleasant, thank you all!
Room was nice and clean and so was the en suite.
Breakfast the next morning was very good and cooked fresh for us. Better than most hotels. The location was perfect, right in the town center and had enough parking for residents. Was very happy with my stay there.
We stayed at this hotel, 3 times. I don’t think I need to say anymore how nice this place is pretty reasonable on the price. There are other hotels that are more expensive and not so close to the town.
the breakfast was lovely we very much enjoyed the leisure center and found it very relaxing and the staff were all lovely it was great for just a night away to relax . we found the hotel to be very clean
The bloomfield hotel offered us the biggest hotel room we were ever been. Very spacious, with a lake view.
Good food in the restaurant and of course swimming pool and sauna.
The guesthouse was immaculately clean and well equipped. The owners also very kindly gave me a lift into the town to the event I was attending. 5 stars all round 🤗
