For the breakfast we asked to be seated near the window. This area was actually not planned to be served as it was a bit further away from the buffet but Surendra made an exception and even served us with coffee despite coffee is normally self-service. Surendra was really outstanding and made our day. Just top!

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

It was a very friendly town, with many pubs, cafe's and restaurants.
Sean's Bar had a very good live music duo. We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere. The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. It was a good place to be based at.

Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant.
Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant. THANKS to Eric the man is a legend. Good staff everywhere. Room was little hot but that was the weather we were having. ROOM was excellent Breakfast and a swim in the pool to it off .Thank-you one and all
The location and privacy of the room was more than adequate for the time that I had spent in the room. The location was similar to where I had stayed in the last time that I had been in Athlone, and is very central to the town. While my standards for walkability are wildly different than most people's (I wouldn't decline a walking trip to Roscommon, for example), I felt like the town as a whole had a very accessible vibe and the location of this hotel was very conducive to that ideal.
I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful property. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The hosts were very friendly, and amazing cooks. This was a great way to end our tour of the many B & B’s we stayed at during our travels through Ireland. Sean’s Bar was within walking distance and the hosts provided great dinner recommendations. This breakfast was our favorite. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back again if we make it back to Ireland!
At ten minutes walking distance from Athlone town centre and the train station, we got a full-sized 2-bedroom 1.5 bathroom appartment with all ameneties and well-equipped kitchen, all much bigger than we've had before when booking a self-catering appartment. We only stayed one night, so it was a pity we couldn't really enjoy it completely; this would be an ideal starting place if you want to explore this part of Ireland for several days.
Hotel was was lovely easy to get to into Athlone Town for a walk around. Staff all lovely we ate in the bar both days and food was so tasty. Only thing bar staff need to learn which glasses should be used for which cocktail. We did look to eat in restaurant but need to book 48 hrs in advance which we never knew as wasn't stated in any emails sent to me. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty to choose from.
The location, staff pleasant and attentiveness excellent throughout from reception to bar.would stay again, hve been there before a year ago.Breakfasts and carvery lunch much enjoyed.we really enjoyed the stay.cleanliness superb .would highly recommend to others and close to Athlone and activities available close by to book.this hotel has spa n swimming pool n gym and golf.
This is best hotel in Athlone. I always stay there. Just back from a vacation. Each and every member of staff went beyond their call of duty. I highly recommend this Hotel due to its location, cleanliness, friendly staff , breakfast etc. The list is endless. You will not be disappointed. I will be back.
So clean and quiet. Stayed for a wedding in Athlone. Taxi was about 14euro each way and we had no problems getting one in and out.
Comfy rooms with bice spacious ensuites. Grounds are fantastic. Exceptional value for money compared to the hotels in the town 10/10
This hotel was adequate for one night but I would not want to stay for an extended visit.
Friendly staff, free parking off the street behind the hotel but the lot is tight. Dinner in the hotel bar was OK at best. Easy walk to Sean's Bar.
Lovely greeting on arrival. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious - excellent coffee. Very impressed with the efforts at sustainability in the hotel (no single use plastics). Conference lunch was well cooked and very tasty.
Perfect location for an overnight stay in Athlone. Clean rooms, cosey bed (minus the pillows which were a bit too hard) and lovely staff. Cheap and cheerful breakfast although just lacking the essentials for a continental buffet.
I had stayed the week before and had booked a hotel for the next Friday night, but I had enjoyed my stay so much that when I found there was availability I cancelled the hotel and went back to Shannonside House
The apartments are lovely and in a convenient location in the centre of Athlone. The staff are incredibly helpful with anything that you want to organise. Would highly recommend staying here.
