Staff were lovely and very helpful Used the hotel as a base for the Sturminster Newton Cheese festival and overall we had a nice weekend Thanks guys!

The Kings Arms, hotel in Wincanton

Set in an elegant Edwardian building, The Kings Arms boasts traditional charm and period features.

The room we were first given was noisy at certain times because it was directly over the kitchen. We were moved to a different room for the second night which was at front of the hotel and much better.

Wincanton itself is a small town which has most things you may need but is not a pretty town like other places in Dorset. The pub/hotel is not nearby to anything and is quote close to the A303, so a convenient place for a stop over when travelling.

Ideal location for lots to do in the area, easy access from the A303, good supermarket close with nice cafe in, petrol reasonably priced. Car wash was excellent Town is quite small but a nice wander round, a few nice shops to look at.

It was a shame the shop (Terry Pratchett) was closed across road. Would have loved to visit - perhaps next time. Great butchers across road. Very quiet village, but we were visiting other places during day and didnt have time to look around much. Great farm shop and art gallery in Bruton. The Newt is close by and farm shops local. We ate at the dolphin hotel/pub, food good but when new restaurant opens in courtyard expect bigger menu. Wincanton is easy to get around. Would visit again as everyone so lovely and helpful at the Dolphin.

Apart from the Dolphin, which was excellent, we also had a meal and a few drinks down the road in Wincanton at the Nog Inn, which was also good. It was easy to walk around the town - fairly compact. One or two premises (e.g. hotels) were closed down.

The two best things about Wincanton were, for us, The Nog Inn (good food, delightful staff and a lovely 'beer garden or outside space,) and Hooga Coffee... a wonderful place for delicious breakfasts and probably good food all day. The town is built on hills or one long hill which is difficult for walking if you don't like traversing hills. There is also a lot of traffic as it seems to be a kind of through-town with a very busy junction at the centre where four roads intersect.

We stayed for one night so we could visit in-laws who live close by. We had a family room which worked well for us. The beds were comfortable and shower good. Breakfast was included and was in the form of a buffet and was enjoyable. We had a drink in the bar at in the evening and the dinner menu looked good but we had eaten at the in-laws. The play area round the back was fun even for our 15 and 17 year old! Though close to the A303, the hotel was set back enough so as not to have any issues with the road noise.

The setting and decor of the building and internally. Friendly greetings on arrival and departure. The kitchenette was very well stocked, making the lack of catering service unimportant. We booked two rooms and, due to the layout of the area, it felt as if we had the house to ourselves. The rooms were bright, well-stocked with a kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. milk and biscuits. There was, also, a teapot. The ensuite was spotless and included a shower jell, freshner and ample towels. Everything spoke quality.

The room had plenty of space to store luggage. The interior is modern and comfortable. Especially the bathroom was big, had separated shower and bathtub so that also longer relaxing stays are possible. Although the room is behind the Pub it was calm so that we slept well. The staff was welcoming and friendly so that we felt at home. The food in the restaurant is of exceptional quality. We visit the restaurant for years and always plan a visit when we are near Wincanton.

A quirky and lovely place to stay . Quiet little Village . Lovely pub with friendly and helpful staff . All of the food and drink provided is of a high standard . Room is nicely decorated and bed is very comfy . Large shower . Little bistro chair and table outside which is cute touch. I would stay again and recommend to others . Price reflects the hut and if you want something different to a normal hotel room this is it ! Free on site parking is also a bonus .

Excellent service Very clean Very professional initially booked for 1 week for work, ended up extending it for 4 weeks. Only moved on as contract for work ended in Wincanton. Sally is very helpful and polite. I don’t like landlord/manger to be in the way especially if it’s a long stay and Sally gave me that space but always was there if I needed anything. I would most certainly book again if I ever come back to Wincanton

The room was surprisingly big with some comforts and a good shower room. It was very peaceful and quiet, despite being close to the busy A303, and overlooked the children's play area, pygmy goat pen and fields. Breakfast was generous and the quality good. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for anyone travelling on the A303 or, like us, visiting the magnificent Stourhead house and world-famous garden.

Perfect for us in every way. Minutes from Bruton and Wincanton, with some fab restaurants recommended by our friendly hosts Fiona, James and their delightful girls. At The Chapel and Bell and Crown, were two highlights. Very clean, comfortable, with spacious living room and kitchen. Lovely little goodies left for us, plenty of wood for the logburner and an extremely comfy bed. Idyllic location.

Hi, I went to Wincanton for a wedding 15 July, but owing to traffic had to race straight there. When the wedding finished I ordered a taxi to The Stags Head and phoned ahead a few times but there was no answer. I did not chance getting dropped off with nowhere to sleep. Is a refund, either total or partial, possible?
