Loved the building how spectacular it looked from outside. I did expect the same for inside but had to remind myself it’s a very old building. I didn’t get the wow factor (apart from the staircase😉)
Our room overlooked the station - bit of a let down view. Our shower leaked onto bathroom floor creating puddles but we reported to reception on checkout
Beds were comfortable. Room had iron & hairdryer and a tuck box nice touch 😊 clean hotel

Hotel was lovely, great location, staff were excellent and food was great. Nice outside area with music and heated seating areas with pizza cooked to order. We stayed in Churchill bunker room which was novel!

Lovely relaxing location just on the outskirt of beautiful York. Accommodate very cosy and peaceful, very enjoyable trip. A good idea to book a taxi into York in advance and a must for the return trip, plenty of taxi firms to choose. Lovely farm cafe open for breakfast and other options near by. Lots of local character pubs about. Lighting the fire pit in the evening made it feel very autumnal and blankets provided in the accommodation to cosy up with. Lovely scenic location

I went to the Black Horse pub in the village and I can honestly say, it was the friendliest and most welcoming pub, I have ever been in!! They welcomed my dog inside, which was really important for me and the chef literally tailor made my meals for me, when he found out from the lovely waitress, that I was vegetarian! The village was small, pretty and had a really useful little shop, selling local produce and little necessities. Easy access to main roads but far away enough from them to know you were in a village.
