The location was ideal and very picturesque. There was an issue with the shower that the host rectified over the phone very promptly and with concern.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Had the toilet cistern block with limescale late evening prior to going to bed. staff very helpful and response excellent. Offered to change room but we got it going. Plumber replaced same next day. The breakfast was good but not the best. Bar prices a bit steep.

Picturesque very ancient small town on a pretty river.
Picturesque very ancient small town on a pretty river. Peaceful out of peak tourist season. Close to Durdle Dor and the Jurrasic coast. Enjoyable short walks by the river. The walls were a bit underwhelming.

I did not visit Wareham itself as I was staying in Corfe Castle which is a beautiful village. I was holidaying with my dog and there were plenty of places that welcome dogs including tea rooms, the Swanage steam railway and some boat tours from Swanage.

Wareham is such a lovely place!!
Wareham is such a lovely place!! It's full of character and lovely shops, cafe's and pubs.
The river runs right through and is a lovely place to go for a bite to eat - We want to go back with our Kayak!!
People were all friendly and we will visit again!
The present owners have turned this lovely old coaching inn, which previously had become drab and was in dire need of some TLC, into a warm, vibrant, welcoming hotel. We highly recommend a stay there if you are visiting Purbeck. We only had breakfast but it was excellent. Lovely staff - friendly, welcoming, helpful and courteous. We highly recommend a stay at The Bear and will definitely be returning.
The hotel has its own parking (significant in an old town like Wareham). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and confortable. The restaurant is first rate at dinner and breakfast (quite as good as the central London hotel with a Michelin star where we have occasionally stayed over the years). The terrace overlooks well-kept gardens that run down to the river.
The lake is beautiful and the cheeky ducks are good fun (the bird seed was a nice touch!)
. The studio was spacious, well equipped, and furnished to a high standard. The studio is only a short walk (20/25mins) along a country lane to the centre of Wareham.
The location was perfect for us, as we wanted to travel on the Swanage heritage railway. The property also had a convenient restaurant across the road, and was only a short walk into Wareham town centre.
We having been coming here for the past 4 years and will continue to do so. The hotel is showing minimal wear and tear but it’s just so comfortable and with excellent food quality.
