Nice room. Great location. Easy to park and find. Staff so nice and kind. And made me a packed breakfast as I left so early in the morning. What a lovely place to stay. Nice puppy too.
Lovely town to explore. Gold Hill the main attraction but the streets at the bottom of the hill have lots of character and some thatched properties..We found a lovely millennium garden and a some interesting shops. Not so much to do on a rainy day around the area this time of year as the NT properties are not open yet so suggest visiting
March onwards.

Beautiful old town, cobbled streets, amazing views.
Beautiful old town, cobbled streets, amazing views. Gold Hill has to be seen (google Hovis advert) even my 20 year old was impressed. We had a wonderful breakfast at King Alfred’s Kitchen instead of eating at our hotel. We stayed at Grosvenor Arms Hotel, very central, no parking if you at staying but car parks are available. I live close to Arundel in West Sussex and it reminded me of the medieval history. Nice people, nice views, beautiful place to have a weekend away.

A beautiful part of Dorset with lots to see like Gold Hill and very good places to eat - The Mitre pub served delicious food with an amazing view. There are an interesting collection of shops to suit most people and the people were lovely.

It is hard to give a review of Shaftesbury, having spent just an overnight in the town. From first appearances, though, this town and environs is well worth a longer stay to explore. The Restaurant, San Tonino, is well worth a visit.

I thought it was a gorgeous town and I definitely want to go back. The buildings are so old and the town is full of historical interest. We only had a couple of hours, after coming to visit friends, and it was pouring with rain, but we went to Gold Hill and had a lovely hot chocolate there, and visited a gallery, and just really enjoyed walking around. We saw a house which Thomas Hardy featured in 'Jude the Obscure' and a yew tree that pre-dates Christianity. We briefly visited the free Gold Hill Museum and definitely would like to go back there. Apparently in the summer there is a lido.

Great place to visit and walk round very pretty place.
Great place to visit and walk round very pretty place.
But now the parking facilities for the hotel and local businesses in the High Street been made difficult.
Very sad, especially for us older clientele.
🥲
Very lovely property, spotlessly clean, quiet and with a beautiful garden. A very pleasant, idyllic walk to Shaftesbury's Gold Hill and the main street – we took trips to the bakery every morning. Check-in was seamless (lockbox with code) and the hosts very friendly. The apartment was bigger than expected. We had a wonderful time here and we look forward to returning someday.
lovely place in keeping with the aesthetic and feel of the the town. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Had lovely dinner and breakfast. Perfect English country hotel. Loved the email prior to arriving, we packed a small bag for the night so that we didn't have to lug our big suitcases up the stairs. Very considerate thinking ahead....
The pub was ideal for what we wanted. Accomodation near Shaftesbury. Room was a bit dated but comfortable beds. Dinner ok, I think I took a risk ordering steak - my husband enjoyed the fishcakes. Breakfast has to be ordered night before - as I couldn't eat the sausages - thought I may have got more than one rasher of bacon. Nice otherwise
We arrived early and were able to check in immediately. The hosts are lovely and gave us tips on the area. Breakfast was delicious, much better than we'd expected. The hosts really went to a lot of trouble for us. Easy to find, easy to park. A short walk from the town centre but very convenient to access and leave. Lovely garden as well.
The location was excellent,in the heart of Shaftesbury , with all facilities close to hand.
The residence was very comfortable and full of all the items a visitor could need
The welcome was warm and the host was friendly and extremely helpful.
I would say that it was like being at home and would recommend it without reservation.
This is a beautiful example of how a property should be after working for weeks in the area in accommodation that doesn’t really meet ideal expectations this property was absolutely spot on!
Beautiful barn conversion just a short drive out of Shaftesbury, absolutely spot on with comfortable bed and decent shower.
Our room was spacious including the en-suite. All the meals were good(breakfast and dinner). Parking was fine. There is a petanque area, complete with boules. There are loads of outside tables to use for drinks and meals. Very dog friendly. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Beautiful garden/ courtyard to sit outside.
Easy parking in the hotel car park. Park walk view right off the High Street and fantastic panoramic walk around the town.
Free visit to the Shaftesbury Abbey garden and museum a few minutes away.
The Lodge at Goldhill glamping was very comfortable and cosy and a brilliant tasteful little place to stay when exploring Shaftesbury and the surrounding area. We loved the log burner and the well equipped kitchen. The lodge was clean and nicely decorated and dog friendly too!
This a lovely period cottage in the St James district of Shaftesbury just off the iconic Gold Hill. There are a dozen cafes and 4 pubs within walking distance as well as supermarkets and independent shops within the picturesque Saxon town.
The Studio is a quaint small cottage idea for two people. Its in beautiful countryside, and we enjoyed our stay in this quiet secluded cottage. It was our first visit to Dorset and it was ideal to visit both countryside and coast.
Old style country Pub with thatched roof, staff were very friendly and helpful
The food was excellent 👍👍, great value 👍👍
I have been working down in the area 6 times previous wish I had found it on the 1st visit
We didn’t have the breakfast as we were only in the area for a concert & had to get off back to Worcestershire. Really enjoyed the hotel, the staff were so helpful. Room met all our expectations
