The pub inn is very clean and I liked breakfast was available for purchase at great prices downstairs. The location is perfect if you want to stay in the middle of a quaint English town. Very comfortable and clean room with housekeeping entering daily. Fabulous that the room has aircon which would be a great during the humid UK summer. The location is beautiful in a rural area and an easy commute to Newbury or Reading, ideal for business travel. The restaurant food is excellent and the service was excellent.

Newbury is lovely with lots of period places to visit nearby. Beautiful countryside, lovely golf course, Nice small town with a retail park near by also. Lots of places to eat Having your own vehicle would make the stay easier, i did not use public transport but there appears to be lots of it.

I was in Newbury for work at the local showground which was a short 10min drive. In the evenings we had the pleasure of visiting the local pubs and restaurants of which there are plenty for all tastes and budgets (Italian, That, English, Turkish, Spanish etc) including take always too. You can stroll along the river, take in the theatre or shopping areas, ideal for a weekend trip with a partner or friends as the racecourse is also close by.

Small market town that has essential shopping and even a family owned department store. There are many walks along the canal or small river that runs around the town. Visit Highclere ( the home of Downton Abbey) or just chill out in the surrounding countryside.

NO response from the hotel or from Booking. Com. Have done nothing to help me out of the situation I find myself in. As long as they have got your money they are happy. The world is not black and white and sometimes shit happens that is outside the normal. Staff training would be a massive leap forward for you guys. You might even get happy customers !!!

Right within walking distance of Newbury town centre. Staff very friendly especially the 'acting' manager who explained why there was no food available at the hotel during our stay as it was going to be refurbished at some point soon and he gave us a discount on the room price because of this. Brilliant. Room clean. Bed comfortable with crisp clean sheets and pillows. Tea/coffee/milk available. Comfortable room. Pubs/cafes/restaurants in close walking distance. Didn't want for anything. A good overnight stay.

We went for family weekend and everything in the hotel was good. Not all the rooms were as close as we would have liked but that caused no problems. The pool was great for the grandkids. There was plenty of seating in reception area. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of choice. My wife is coeliac and gluten free and the staff were really helpful to ensure there was no cross contamination. The one evening meal we had in the restaurant was good. Location close to M4 and Newbury was excellent.

My wife and I, along with my parents, had a great stay at the Dolphin. The hotel is full of character and the staff was super friendly. We did not eat at the pub restaurant, but took advantage of their great beer selection. The bathrooms in both of our rooms appeared to be newly renovated and were very nice. The rest of the room was great as well, with decor seeming to have been recently updated.

The Carnarvon Arms is a quaint little English Pub /Inn located in a rural area, about 15min out of Newbury (Berkshire). It is situated near the Highclere Castle (of Downton Abbey fame). I specifically chose this to stay out of the town. The other positives : - Good food though a limited Menu - Friendly staff, Josh particularly was very helpful and efficient
