The village is just a short walk from the guesthouse.

The village is just a short walk from the guesthouse. The village is interesting with a large village pond, village green with a monument to cyclists, two grocery stores, a chemist and two really good pubs that do food. Lots of footpaths and the odd thatched cottage are in the neighbourhood. It's about 9 miles from the NEC. The bus service seems to be good too. We had an excellent evening meal at the Strawberry gardens. I suggest booking a table in advance though, they were very good and fitted us in on a very busy Friday night. It was a later dinner than we'd hoped but it was good quality food and service.

Reception staff were good. The buffet breakfast was good. The kettle i the room was dirty inside so I passed on tea and coffee. The room was cold there was a heater but I couldn't get it to work. Dinner was nice but it took an hour and a half to get a burger.

The best thing about this hotel was the quality of the food.

The best thing about this hotel was the quality of the food. The menu and specials were the same for both evenings but there was plenty of choice. The restaurant was full on the Friday night and service team were great. I would definately dine there if I was a local. The one negative for me was although the stylised subdued lighting was perfect for an evening in the pub and maybe setting off to bed, there was insufficient light to get ready to go out. Room 12s window overlooked the courtyard shared by the restaurant so the blind could not be fully pulled up either. The food was so nice though!!

Nice location close to the NEC but no lift for heavy suitcases, poor expensive evening meal from Marco franchise unless you like burger and lots of fancy chips, no fridge and other issues with room 101, generally we were disappointed for a best western, thankfully the Bear Inn is not to far away who served fantastic pub food and better wine

Abismal! We arrived to an extremely busy pub.

Abismal! We arrived to an extremely busy pub. We stood at the check in desk which was covered with dirty plates for ages. No one would acknowledge us, we were totally invisible, eventually one of the barmaids checked us in. Room was nicely decorated however the bathroom skirting was all black mould as was the base of the shower. The window sash cord was dangling but the worst was that we had no view whatsoever from the window! We had a brick wall and roof within touching distance. This restricted daylight should be highlighted on the booking information to give you a choice if you want to continue with the booking or not, I certainly wouldn’t have. Although this is a pub we are still paying hotel prices! Again for dinner the pub was stupidly busy, and everyone was stood waiting for their tables. We were supposed to eat in the restaurant however we were eventually given a table just at the bottom of the stairs. Service was extremely slow but food was ok but it is expensive. Breakfast is another story; no cereal or fruit for breakfast, not enough cups, the boiler was empty, the juice was empty, the service was very very slow. To top it all the cleaner was vacuuming around other guests tables! The place is totally badly managed so won’t be back!!

Visited here as I was travelling for the Arnold Classic event held at Birmingham NEC really glad I found this place! It's not your usual hotel it's got more of a homely feel to it and the staff go beyond to meet expectations. Lovely and clean room no complaints there and a comfy bed! Freshly cooked breakfast every morning, Plenty of options on breakfast and drink. Will be back!
