We liked the staff, friendly and helpful. We liked the food excellent breakfast and evening meal. Limited menu but food cooked to perfection. We liked the hotel being dog friendly and no extra charge for our furry friends. Some hotels are charging exhorbatent fees up to £25 a night per dog. Our dogs enjoyed their stay and were made welcome. The hotel is ideally situated between Lowestoft and Yarmouth and within minutes of the lovely dog friendly beach at Gorleston. This was our third visit and we will be back.

Lowestoft is quirky with some interesting sights and shops but other parts which appear in decline or unexploited. As an example, a major claim to fame - the most easterly point - is hard to find. The promenade along the south beach is very long and would seem ideal for a mini train. As it is there is no transport.. A highlight for us was to see the road bridge raised to allow a boat into the harbour. As a warning to anyone planning a long weekend, many of the specialist shops stay closed on Mondays - as my daughter and I found to our cost.

    Enjoyed Oulton Broad.

Enjoyed Oulton Broad. Had a lovely trip on the Waveney Princess . Captain had lots of local knowledge her commentary was most interesting. Didn't like Lowestoft Town and area at all very busy traffic seemed a bit chaotic unless you are a fan of one ways and traffic lights.

We stayed in Oulton broad mainly to watch the last of the seasons powerboat racing. I chosse the Wherry as it is in a great location. There are also some other good pubs and restaraunts in the immediate area. Im not so keen on lowestoft but worth a short visit especially if you have kids and there is pleanty to do in the area. Also Gt Yarmouth is not far away and again worth a visit

Loved the beach at Claremont pier.

Loved the beach at Claremont pier. Very clean even on a beautiful day it was never crowded. Also the parking was so cheap compared to Great Yarmouth. The fish and chip shop on the front was a good price and very tasty.

I didn't have high expectations but the Kirkley area was quiet, right on the seafront and also had local shops and pubs. Few places to eat so choose a hotel with a restaurant. It was easy to get to other parts of Suffolk I wanted to visit and cheaper to stay there.

The staff hearing news of duvet fitted a top cotton sheet and fresh pillows and 2nd night had an amazing sleep. The staff were outstanding with requests such as making us a latte coffee to take to our room even though it was late at night and they were busy with another wedding party. Plenty of free parking and lovely grounds to wander around. Close to lowestoft and Gorleston so excellent location. Fantastic breakfast with really tasty bacon and sausage. One of the best cups of tea I've had in a hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Does what is says on the tin. Lord Kitchener has you in mind from the start. It is welcoming, clean and the staff really go that extra mile to make you feel welcome. The Lord Kitchener is just not for Veterans but open to the public. As this perfect location hotel only relies on charity, I feel to keep this important location open, that if you’re considering visiting Lowestoft, please consider this place as far too many private businesses have suffered over the past couple of years, and The Lord Kitchener is no exception.

We loved the staff they were lovely. The hotel was clean and our rooms refreshed daily. The food was incredible and cooked to order so hot and fresh. The hotel welcomed dogs so it was lovely to make some canine friends and chat to the owners....non dog lovers don't let the dogs presence put you off,the hotel was spotless and dogs don't enter the breakfast room.all dogs were controlled and unobtrusive. Bar area was large, and comfortable with books and table games. The location close to the sea.
