Cooked Breakfast content excellent, however could have been warmer. Continental breakfast was a lovely surprise. Room at arrival needed to be warmer, of-course weather conditions play a part in this need. We needed to have a portable room heater because central heating unreliable!!

Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa, hotel in Lighthorne

Sitting in 65 acres of beautiful English countryside, just 10 minutes from the M40, lies the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa.

The setting was perfect. The hotel appeared to be run down in general. Windows long overdue being replaced, one window didn't shut securely, wooden frame warped with age. Fire doors in all corridors left open! Major fire risk. Staff in the bar didn't apoear to know what they were doing. The best bit was the bed, this alone was worth the price. Reception staff were brilliant. Room service and cleaning staff were faultless. Regular tv channels were inaccessible in the room so tv viewing was limited in my room.

Lighthorne is a really old 16th century farmhouse extended over the years. The room we stayed in was outside in a small yard. It was quite modern and spacious and comfortable. The host Sue was lovely and her breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious. It was a 10 minute walk to the local pub for evening meal and the whole village was quiet and welcoming. Would make a good base from which to visit the area.

Sue was an excellent host and breakfast was on time and succulent. The surroundings were very tranquil and our cottage was so quiet and relaxing. The walk to the Antelope was a gentle 7 to 8 minutes and the staff at the Antelope were very welcoming and the food excellent.

    Very quiet but very isolated.

Very quiet but very isolated. No local shops, so, you definitely need a car. Parking is easy - just don't turn up in a 50s' Cadillac! Nicely located for the British Motor Museum 10 minutes away. Can't fault it!
