Orchard Pond Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Great Chesterford

Set in Duxford, Orchard Pond Bed & Breakfast offers accommodation with free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as free bikes and a garden.

My stay here was booked as a treat by my wife, and a treat it was! Although only a brief 2 night stay, it was exceptional. Janet and her husband were very welcoming on my arrival and throughout my stay. The accommodation is well situated away from the main road in a quiet area, but at the same time, it is well located for a visit to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, which is where I was headed during my stay. The B&B is exceedingly well appointed and very comfortable. The interior is tastefully decorated with a nice touch of class. I was able to come and go as I needed. The bedroom was very comfortable indeed and had everything I required - ensuite, internet, coffee making facilities etc. The breakfast was spectacular! Plenty of variety and enough to set me up for the whole day! Janet was even kind enough to present me with a small cake with a candle for my birthday, which I celebrated during my stay. A lovely, thoughtful touch from a welcoming host. Thank you! :-)

Not much to see in the immediate area, but some beautiful old buildings, a couple of pubs one serving A wide range of Thai food, the other Greene King chain although limited menu. It was well placed for visiting attractions in the surrounding area. Railway station within walking distance and park and ride for Cambridge about 6miles away.

We booked this hotel to visit Audley End for a concert.

We booked this hotel to visit Audley End for a concert. I think on reflection it was a little bit too far away as we had to book cabs to the venue which was an expense I hadn't factored in. That aside we enjoyed our stay at Great Chesterford. Very pretty countryside. The hotel had a lovely courtyard garden where we enjoyed a drink, our bed was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a very relaxed, unstuffy feel to it which was good for us.

    I was made very welcome!

I was made very welcome! I had my dog with me and he was made very welcome too. Water was provided for him and so was breakfast! They were not doing food in the evening, but arrangements were made for me to ha e a pizza delivered. As a disabled person I was welcomed and my disability catered for by providing a suitable room with walk-in shower.

We went to Great Chesterford intending on staying 3 nights to enable visits to Cambridge and Saffron Walden. We cut our stay short due to poor facilities at the B&B and the constant noise from aircraft and the roads. We did visit Saffron Walden. Lovely old buildings, sadly the Fry Gallery was closed (our fault - it was a Monday) but the Bridge End Gardens were pleasant. However, the town centre was full of multi national stores, crowded by traffic and rather soulless. The town was not disabled friendly - pavements or commercial premises. We left Great Chesterford after one night and travelled to Ely which was by contrast to Saffron Walden very disabled friendly, with pavements, shops, cafes, cathedral and other facilities like parking and toilets easily accessible.

Great Chesterford is handily located for the Duxford air museum and for the stately home at Audley End. Travelling south from Yorkshire to Sussex on the M11, Great Chesterford is a convenient place to break the journey

We needed an overnight stay for a family funeral. This was the closest hotel so I booked it! Super location in the pretty village of Great Chesterford. Lovely welcome from Chris. Quiet and cosy room in The Stables annex. Clean good sized room with powerful ensuite shower! Really comfy bed! Great nights sleep and a fantastic breakfast the following morning. Served by Linda who was lovely and the multi skilled Chris cooked our full english. This really was a perfect stay considering our reason for being here. Thank you! Lara and Gary

The hotel and staff are exceptional nothing is too much trouble - the room was comfortable clean and had everything I required - they were helpful with the booking - ensuring I got an accessible room to suit my needs - from checking in to leaving the staff went out of their way to assist. Breakfast was a wonderful selection. I would be more then happy to stay again - highly recomended.

The location of this hotel was perfect for us as we were visiting family in Saffron Walden. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and answered all of our queries. The room was spacious and very clean with free WiFi, which was reliable and made working from the room really easy. The gardens were tranquil and the perfect place to enjoy a Sauvignon Blanc. We had a great stay.

Everything - The welcome, the room and the breakfast. We were staying for a function and were didn't know what to expect. We had a beautiful room with a four poster bed - possibly the bridal suite? - with a huge bathroom and double size bath. The hotel itself has a fascinating history - just to add to its credentials.

The hotel is fabulous and full of character. if you like plastic chain hotels it won’t be for you. But, if you want a one off, full of charm hotel this is the one for you. Chris and the rest of the staff were wonderful. It made a refreshing change to stay somewhere where we felt very welcome.

I had a suite in the main house. Clean, spacious room in a traditional style, well taken care of, the WiFi worked alright. The stuff was very polite. The hotel is at about 8 and 10 minutes walk from the two pubs of the village that serve food (with the first one serving only Thai or pizza).
