Great location for exploring Bala and parts of Wales. There are the castle remains opposite the inn, with a superb cafe and the moat had loads of ducklings. Oswestry was but a few minutes away. Interesting little town. Would recommend the Inn.

The property was immaculate with everything we needed. All the added extras made the stay extra special. Milo our dog also thoroughly enjoyed his stay whilst he played with Toby!
Ellesmere is a beautiful place.
lots of interesting features due to the canal, wharf, and mere.
We were visiting in February and it was still pleasant to visit despite the cold weather.
May visit again in summer months

Elessmere is a beautiful location with many options for walking and exploring, including the nearby Llangollen/Shropshire canal. As a walker I could easily have spend several days there and used this locatuion as a centre for my planned activitieds.

There were lots of local walks, perfect for dog owners. Great play facilities for children and plenty of good places to eat - all well identified on the free map of Ellesmere.
The sculpture trail was interesting and would be great fun to do with kids.

The Red Lion is well situated within walking distance of the town centre, and also a short walk away from the Mere which is Ellesmere's main attraction. The town is very interesting and compact, and is served by bus to Shrewsbury and the Welsh Border. There are many footpaths around the area, including canal paths and various Meres nearby.

Ellesmere is a nice small Village.
Ellesmere is a nice small Village.
We ate at the Black Lion about 50/60 meters from Hotel and had Breakfast at the Boat House about a mile away from Hotel - both were Excellent as the Ellesmere Hotel did not serve Food.
The hotel very much reflects the town in general, badly in need of a major facelift, streets & shop fronts pavements all in need of huge clean up.
Only one pub offering restaurant food very good it was, The Red Lion excellent service great landlord and staff, actually where we intended to stay if Booking.com hadn’t cocked up the reservation!!
To sum up, the area definitely would benefit from a new Premier lnn.
The hotel was great for an overnight stop with our dog
We had a family room for extra space which was off the courtyard where we were able to park our car
This proved to be very important as I had injured my knee earlier in the day and was hobbling around
The staff were very helpful and caring
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious which made everything a little easier
Perfect location to visit surrounding areas such as Ellesmere and Llangollen.
Fabulous view in peaceful countryside.
Friendly hosts.
A really helpful app providing all information at the touch of a button.
Short car journey to reach canal for walks.
Cosy pod with underfloor heating and microwave if not wanting to eat out.
Lots of places to eat out locally.
The property was modern, clean and perfectly located for us to visit friends that lived near Ellesmere. Adrian was very friendly & informative. It was a smooth process from booking to enjoying our stay. We would definitely recommend this little gem!
Beautifully designed and fitted by the owners behind their wonderful Greek restaurant
The flower-filled little courtyard was lovely.
Great welcome Greek treats
Central Ellesmere location
Great little hotel, bed were comfortable & the staff were very friendly, , the pub next door which is part of the hotel had great food & cosy atmosphere, would stay there again,
The hotel had closed down in December 2022 without Booking.com informing us of this and we travelled 230 miles to find we had to then source another hotel.
