Tynycornel Hotel, hotel in Dinas Mawddwy

With a magnificent location, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty and dramatic scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, the Tynycornel Hotel looks out over its own 222-acre fishing lake.

Our room overlooking the lake was wonderful. Very clean and the bed was soooo comfortable. There were sachets to make hot chocolate in the room - great for me because I do not drink tea or coffee. Breakfast was excellent (more hot chocolate too). Plenty of parking. Helpful staff. Beautifully kept mature gardens.

The village is ‘off the beaten track’.

The village is ‘off the beaten track’. It’s quiet with friendly locals in a good community cafe and pub The surrounding scenery is very green and rural with ancient pathways, woods and lovely views. There’s a good choice of walking routes. The car park is free and a good starting point for the walks. The village is a good base to explore nearby towns- Dolgellau and the coast and Machynlleth with its shops and art gallery.

The farm was easy to find.

The farm was easy to find. Parking was easy enough even though we had 2 cars between us. It's fairly remote and no shops nearby so take what you need with you. The nearest town Machynlleth is around 20 minutes away but has minimal shops. This is not a criticism. The nearby Red lion pub serves excellent food and drink. The staff are very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evenings there. There are plenty of places to visit within an hours drive of the farm and the roads are good quality and safe. The fixtures and fittings in the farm are first rate, no tired furniture there. I'm sure the Farmer told me that his son is a qualified carpenter and this shows. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.

We are an elderly couple -I am from Dinas Mawddwy so I know that it is a beautiful area. Lovely area for walking and exploring. A photographer's paradise (weather permitting) Loads of places to visit -as you would obviously arrive in a car--so within reasonable driving distances.

Perfect idyllic place, great for walking or driving and exploring the local areas, Barmouth approx 1 hour drive away. We ate at various places and had lovely food, not one bad meal. If you want quiet, stunning views then this is the place to be. Enjoy

A very beautiful, tranquill place to stay.

A very beautiful, tranquill place to stay. The local people seem warm and very welcoming. The village is clean and tidy and has a few cafes and pubs which weren't too busy during our stay and easy to walk to. We ate at the Red Lion, a very traditional, family run no nonsense pub, serving great home cooked food, at a very reasonable price.

The house is placed in a village from the heart of the mountains. The rooms are interesting and they give you the feeling “like home”. The rooms are away so different and much interesting then the usually rooms from the hotels. The food it is amazing !!! The staff/ the family it is so engaged in making the guests to feel good. They even suggested to me and my group what to visit, they give us maps and clear directions, which they where better then what the internet offered us.

Working farm feeling , morning chickens and sheep sounds all around -live stock experience was much better than posh hotel. Very cosy interaction with owners and based on size of the dinning table/ room realy limited number of guests staying at any given time was a real eye opener in regards to less is better. 🙂 Set of well kept, soft towels was provided which is always a bonus especially when home brought items are wet after wild swimming.

Robert and Lyn were amazing hosts, so friendly and welcoming, also knowledgeable about the local attractions. The room was comfortable with everything we needed and very clean. Beautiful location but close enough to the main road to make traveling around easy. Our son loved feeding the lambs and playing with the two little dogs - best hotel he's ever been in he said! Thank you Robert and Lyn for an amazing stay!

The breakfasts were lovely, the owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. They even provided dog beds, bowls and treats for them. There was lots of litttle extras like bowls of sweets and extra fruit which we were welcome to take. The owners have not had the hotel for very long but had worked really hard to get it ready to have guests and this was evident. Well done.

Did not have breakfast as no-one was about when I left my room. The hotel was nice - old established business - but the present owner will ruin it. She has no idea how to run an hotel and cannot understand English properly.
