The staff were outstanding, the hotel was beautiful and the location, on the outskirts of Ludlow, was perfect. As the weather was poor, the day after our family celebration, we were able to enjoy the experience of exploring the distillery, gift shop and fantastic cafe situated next door to the hotel. Lots of outside areas and play equipment for sunny days too.
Mynd House is located 1.2 miles from Church Stretton. This property offers free parking and is a short walk away from two local pubs.

The Barrels was welcoming, warm, exceptionally clean and cosy. The perfect base to escape, recharge and explore the local area. It had all the amenities we needed and super comfy beds ensured a great nights sleep. The lovely garden area was a bonus and it was great to sit outside and enjoy the autumn sun. We are definately planning to return soon.

We had a great stay at Craven Arms and were made to feel very welcome. There was bread, milk and a few treats wating for us on arrival, which we really appreciated.
The house was well maintained and a great size for a family of 3 and a good location to explore Shropshire and beyond.

Harry Tuffin is a great store selling just about everything.
Harry Tuffin is a great store selling just about everything. The Discovery Centre is good. Didn't try any pubs in the town. Only saw one but didn't look that attractive, but I didn't try so I'm not qualified to say.

Craven Arms is an excellent jumping-off point for this part...
Craven Arms is an excellent jumping-off point for this part of Shropshire. It's within easy reach of Ludlow, Church Stretton, Bishops Castle, Clun and Much Wenlock. The supermarket - Tuffins - is independent and seems to have got lost on its way to France: is there anything it doesn't sell?
The neighbouring towns are charming and are largely preserved from the 18th century and beyond. Walk down the high street of any of them and it feels like being part of a costume drama.
Most of the shops in this part of the world are independent. There are remarkably few chains and this adds to the allure. It all feels slightly foreign - and inviting.
Stuff to do? Excellent walking! The Long Mynd (above Church Stretton) has a steep climb and staggering views. One of the hidden glories of the UK. Ludlow Market is well worth visiting (as is the town). And there's a huge range of coffee shops and small eateries; craft shops and delis. The Poetry Pharmacy in Bishops Castle (check for opening times in advance) is fabulous: drink coffee and read Byron! It was reviewed by the Guardian and the owner has appeared on Radio 4.
Very nicely decorated clean cottage with good size lounge with wood burner, well equipped kitchen, separate dinning room, two bathrooms one with good shower other with deep bath. 4 tasteful bedrooms with Comfortable beds. Pretty and well kept garden. Off street parking for 1 car or 2 cars at a push. In small very quiet village with no shop. Within easy driving distance of Craven Arms, Wenlock Edge, Church Stretton, Mynd hills, Bishops Castle, Clun, Ludlow and a couple of heritage railways etc.
The location is great, well off the beaten track so peace and quiet. Trevor is very welcoming and just left us to it. I went with a couple of pals for a walking weekend and a chill out. Log burner with and endless supply of free logs is perfect. Beds are comfy. If you want 5 star Hotel accommodation then look elsewhere but if you want a real life experience away from the rat race get yourself to the Eco lodge.
The location is great to explore the hills and countryside of Shropshire. Good shop in nearby Craven Arms. The view towards the hills from the front of the house is stunning and the small balcony with chairs and bistro table is a nice touch. Although there are footpaths nearby to dog walk, I'd recommend the walks from the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. There are good pubs in the area though none very close.
