We liked EVERYTHING about this hotel. The staff were polite, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The beer was served at the correct temperature, the menu was varied and the food was cooked to perfection both at dinner and breakfast. The room, "Little Robin," had every facility you'd expect and was spotlessly clean. Jacqui, the owner, was a great source of local information and told us some terrific places to go. Thanks, Jacqui, you were spot on!

We had a very pleasure stay at Gordons B&B. Room was clean, breakfast was exceptional good, and the location is super convenient. They also offer free carpark before check-in on the day. The owner, Rory, is very welcoming. In overall, this is the B&B we highly recommended if you want to stay at Cheddar and to explore the scenery there.

Cheddar village itself is nothing special but the Gorge and the caves are a must see. Also buy some real cheddar cheese at the foot of the gorge.
It is also within easy reach of some excellent spots such as the city of Wells and Glastonbury.

Cheddar Village is lovely. Nice pubs, Café and gift shops.
Cheddar Village is lovely. Nice pubs, Café and gift shops. Can get quite busy at weekends. We stayed close enough to walk there. Surrounding places to visit include Glastonbury and Wells.
Walked the Gorge, Which is quite tough in places. There is a free route and you can come down Jacob’s ladder free of charge. (You pay to walk up it)
There are other flatter walks suitable for older people and children. Felt that the entry fee to the caves was very high £25 each.

Cheddar Gorge is very impressive.
Cheddar Gorge is very impressive. We had rather bad weather so wwren't able to walk along the top, which I imagine would be lovely on a good day. Gough's cave is worth visiting - and you get to see the cheese stored there. Cox' s cave is more of a new age experience with lights and sounds etc. Actually I think that it would have been rather intersting ib it's natural state!

Very interesting area, lots to see and do but the attractions all seemed very expensive. The gorge is really impressive though, Plenty of cafes and restaurants, we had a few good pub meals and lovely ice cream. Staff at the Riverside Inn were very helpful with providing gluten free food. Spent a nice day at the Chew Valley lakes where there is a gluten free chip shop (a rarity!).
Lovely countryside, however, it was very busy. The noisy bikes and cars whizzing around at over the speed limit spoiled it a bit for us. It was quite dangerous walking along the gorge in some places.

Cheddar Gorge is a fantastic natural phenomenon.
Cheddar Gorge is a fantastic natural phenomenon. Exploring the caves is an absolute must and you are given a Wi-Fi device to use for an audio explanation as to how the caves were formed.
Jacobs Ladder isn’t for the faint hearted, 274 steps in all but once at the top a short climb up the viewing tower is a must, amazing view all round.
We walked along the path at the top of the gorge which just keeps giving more and more spectacular photo opportunities.
I would recommend you go earlier in the morning to ensure you get a parking place as during the later part of the morning everything seemed to be very busy .
Plenty of little cafes and quaint tea rooms to check out but beware of the prices !!
Lovely accommodation, modern, comfortable, well equipped, and spotlessly clean. Small but has everything you need and is an excellent location in the middle of Cheddar and within easy walking distance of the gorge, shops, and places to eat. Lyn couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly, providing homemade cakes and chocolates for arrival, and delivered delicious breakfast baps to us each morning. Lyn also provided useful information about the local area.
The property has good car parking, and accomodation is quite. The property is located just 1 mile from Cheddar Gorge. We were welcomed by property owner (Mag) and took us to room. Room is quite spacious and maintained well. The bathroom is well maintained. The Rooms have a common kitchen and well equipped. I would recommend travellers to make the choices (based on availability) and stay here. They provide multiple types of Breakfast services too.
This incredibly cozy place features a superbly equipped kitchen (it has everything and even more to cook with) and comfortable bedrooms. The fireplace was a delightful addition, and the opportunity to light it ourselves was appreciated. The cottage is conveniently located in relation to Cheddar Caves (literally a 10-minute walk to the ticket office and nearby souvenir shops and cafes). We definitely recommend Strawberry Cottage. Thank you.
Stayed in one of the static caravans. Lovely location with parking right outside the door, patio doors onto decking overlooking the river. Very comfy bed, good size open plan lounge/diner area with nice big sofas and a decent TV. Quite well equipped, most of things we needed to cook were provided. A welcome pack with information about the area would have been nice though. No towels provided but gave us some when we asked.
Lodge was very comfortable for a family of four.Private decking and access to grassed area in front with picnic benches. We were only there for three nights but a very pleasant place to stay within a few minutes drive of Cheddar. Breakfast available in cafe. We had a lodge and our own cooking facilities so only had breakfast in the cafe on one day but this was very good and friendly service.
Everything else was great! Room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Facilities around the hotel were excellent, especially the beautiful gardens and swimming pool area. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, they were helpful and accommodating the whole time. Breakfast was fresh and tasty with endless top up of drinks if you wanted it. Ideal location for access to the beautiful Cheddar.
The property was lovely. It is close to the gorge and within walking distance of a number of good restaurants. Our room was well decorated and had a nice big window overlooking the pool and gorgeous landscaping. The breakfast was delicious and they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Everyone was welcoming and great to work with.
Very welcoming, clean and comfortable bed & breakfast accommodation in a fantastic location for Cheddar Gorge and the local shops, pubs and restaurants. Everything within a 10 minute walk. Rooms are well-appointed with everything you need. Good to have parking available. Excellent breakfast.
The Stables were a fabulous place to stay. Everything you could wish for and need...a real home from home. A great location too, being only 10 mins or so to Cheddar and 20 mins or so to Wells (both great days out). Hosts were lovely and we'd definitely recommend everyone to stay there.
Comfortable bed, warm cottage, beautifully furnished, well equipped, parking off road behind accommodation, hosts are on hand and available for any help needed.Quiet at night.Use of garden should you wish to,near pubs short stroll away and Cheddar village further on.Everything we needed.
Friendly welcome, made to feel at home. Tailor made breakfast personally delivered to the accommodation.
8 minute walk to Cheddar village so able to avoid excessive parking charges in the gorge itself.
Room was clean and modern. All facilities we needed.
Property had everything we needed, was warm comfortable, perfect little get away. Brilliant staff and facilities, shop on site was also responsible priced for essentials. Close to cheddar gorge.
Handy for local shops - also walking & cycling (Strawberry Line a couple of hundred metres away, Cheddar Gorge and Malvern Hills on the doorstep). Plenty of freezer-space for pre-cooked meals.
Very clean, immaculately decorated, beds comfy, was about 25/30 min walk into Cheddar for pubs/shops which was doable and felt like a ‘safe’ walk home late at night.
Great lay out with plenty of space. It had everything we needed for our stay. Location was perfect being a short distance away from Cheddar and 2 pubs close by.
That was one of the best experience I ever had - Kind people, amazing breakfast and well tasting beer. If you are near Cheddar - this is the place to stay!
