The Roebuck is a pleasant, fairly quiet pub (during our stay, anyway) just off the main street in Chapel En Le Frith. Our room in the separate annexe outside the main building was small but nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The ensuite was also small, especially the shower, but was clean and functional. It was ideal for a couple of nights while we walked in the dark peaks. Hot breakfast was cooked to order and there were also cereals, juice and toast to help yourself to. We ate in the pub one night, which serves nice, no-frills pub food at a very good price. There are lots of places to visit within a shortish and very scenic drive, including Lord's Seat and Edale, Shining Tor and the Goyt Valley, Errwood Reservoir and the caverns of Castleton.
Situated at the centre of Buxton, The Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa offers a swimming pool and beauty salon. This grand Victorian hotel is about 300 metres from the Buxton Train Station.

Although remote there are plenty of walks you can explore as Chapel en le Frith is rich in History and the information is first class 3 to 5 miles in duration.
Personally i loved the peace and quiet feel of this market town although Buxton would be more convenient for transport and facilties Chapel has something more quiet and thoughtful for those interested in a historic aspect.

Chapel en le Frith is a great place to stay, so much to do and see in the surrounding area. Great for walks, National Trust properties and totally amazing views. A good selection of pubs and cafes, and two supermarkets.

I have been visiting The Peak District for over 50 years and have never stayed in Chapel, my mistake. It’s really convenient but often overlooked, easy access by car to Castleton, Edale Buxton etc. The people we met were super friendly from pub to restaurant to the shops. The town is big enough to have a couple of supermarkets, post office and a choice of places to eat. We found craft ales brewed locally, enjoyed a local quiz night and found a “ little gem” ie The Roebuck.

Very pretty (in the snow) - people very friendly (strangers helping cars stuck in the ice with shovels of grit and cardboard from a local delivery driver)….
Lots of eateries within walking distance showcasing a range of worldwide cuisines - The Rowbuck Inn was an excellent base for exploring.
Bedrooms spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated (inc mirror, tv, beside tables with sockets for charging, wardrobe with hangers and fully stocked tea/coffee making facilities including biscuits.
Will definitely be returning for another visit 👍🏻

Beautiful town with excellent walks around the Peak District. Friendly locals, good food and pubs. But be warned - most places are shut Mondays and Tuesdays and a lot of pubs don’t open until after 4pm, so plan ahead for food and refreshments.

The room was a good size and had a huge TV just what we need to watch England get beaten (again)
The food was good, excellent steak and Pizza in particular, vegetables variable, not always freshly cooked that day (I know, I used to be a chef)
Staff were charming and friendly
The food was excellent, the family who run this were so friendly. We had a fantastic stay , great base for hope valley . Large park to the rear of hotel great for families . No problem parking . Room was a little dated but so am I 😀
The rooms were clean and smart and a good size. The breakfast was excellent. All the staff were welcoming and very helpful. This hotel is perfect if you want to be in the middle of plenty of facilities but also want country walks
We booked the hotel for our hiking trip in The Peak District NP. The main factors for choosing this hotel were availability, location and value for money. Our stay was OK and we would stay again when in the area.
The hotel has lovely warm atmosphere with friendly staff, the dinner and breakfast were cooked really good and tasted delicious. The hotel is in a quaint quiet Peak District town.
Pleasant stay at the Roebuck.
