Much nicer than I expected. Lots to do and see.
Much nicer than I expected. Lots to do and see. Great transport system. roads and pavements clean, many of them newly replaced. Plenty of things to see and do. Quite easy to get around, and the city map is very helpful - though maybe a little out of date!? We were there for 2 days, and spent the first evening at the Northern General Hospital, after a trip-up on the pavement. The Ambulance service was great and the treatment at hospital very thorough. The second afternoon and evening was spent in the wonderful botanic gardens, ending with an excellent "Theatre in the Park" production of Robin Hood by the Ragamuffins. A much better way to spend an evening! Thank you "SHEFFIELD" for an very interesting short break!Guest review byJackUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This hotel is perfect if you want amazing food in a lovely location. It is quite central to a lot of walking trails, also some amazing walks from the hotel. We ate at the hotel a couple of nights and in Chesterfield at an amazing Tapas restaurant The Bottle and Thyme, definitely worth a visit.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We have visited Buxton for several years, primarily for performances in the Opera House/Theatre. There are several very good restaurants. The quality of accommodation varies and one needs to read the descriptions carefully. It is an interesting and busy small town well worth visiting.Guest review byCliveUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Macclesfield offered a peaceful and charming atmosphere.
Macclesfield offered a peaceful and charming atmosphere. The hotel environment was excellent — clean, serene, and surrounded by nature. We experienced great comfort throughout our two-day stay. The spa facilities and breakfast were delightful, and the staff at reception were polite and welcoming.Guest review byLungoweUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bakewell is a lovely little town.
Bakewell is a lovely little town. Beautiful river running through, lots of good pubs and a decent Indian restaurant. Not so many shops but everything one would need. We did a brilliant 7 mile walk from the centre, no need to use the car.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Stockport´s location in a ravine with a Victorian viaduct towering overhead makes for a very unusual and intriguing town. Also most interesting are the timber frame houses one finds from Tudor times. Lots of pubs and not generic ones either.Guest review byDominic - 8.0

Ashbourne is very quiet because most of the houses are second homes. Lost a lot of locals, doctor, post office and shop. . The pub food wasn’t brilliant so had to go further afield. Very pretty village where locals can’t afford houses Seems to be a problem in all rural areas .Guest review byColinUnited Kingdom - 8.0
