The Devonshire Grassington, hotel in Burnsall

Located in Grassington and with Ripley Castle reachable within 34 km, The Devonshire Grassington provides a restaurant, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

The food is of a good standard. The accommodation is a little cramped but satisfactory. The staff were extremely helpful, polite, patient and professional (considering the occasion and level of crowding in the pub over that weekend).

Loved everything about it - love the Dales and it was just what we wanted for a special night for the two of us. Wedding anniversary treat. The view from our cottage windows was outstanding and the sound of the water babbling under the bridge was delightful

A delightful, picturesque little village with walks along the river to either Grassington or Appletreewick. There is a large car park which probably gets very busy in the holiday season. Although there are limited facilities in the village itself, it is a great centre to explore the surrounding countryside. The Red Lion, in the centre of the village, serves drinks, bar meals and has a formal restaurant for evening meals, which I can recommend highly.

Do not stay in an annex room as these have not been updated.

Do not stay in an annex room as these have not been updated. I was told that the rest of the hotel had been but did not see any other room. I would not recommend the food as our took 1-1/2 hours (burger and fish and chips) We were forgotten about and told that it was a very busy night. Food was inedible. Staff didn't really seem to be bothered that we waited. When I complained the next day to the manager I was told Chef had accident in kitchen so everything was behind. Too little too late. Our room was not cleaned and again told new staff who were in training.

Burnsall is a very pretty village on the river Wharfe.

Burnsall is a very pretty village on the river Wharfe. Hours can be spent just relaxing watching the weather move over the landscape. There is a good dog friendly pub and there are cafes. Parking can be an issue unless you park on the grass by the river which is charged at a reasonable rate. There are plenty of walks in the area. It is easy to walk into the Bolton Abbey estate and also to Grassington. Wifi in the area is pretty good for somewhere so rural.

We were fortunately moved to the main Hotel space as the heating was not working in the Annex area we were due to be in. The room in the annex was minute. Nice cosy bar area and residents lounge. Lovely dining area but unfortunately we had to eat in the bar in the evening. Good breakfast in the dining room next morning. Think Hotel is to have renovation work. With it's location it really does merit money being spent.

Burnsall is a beautiful quiet village, with a lively pub serving good food. The host provided fresh milk in the room, and I liked the old fashioned ambience of the house. Breakfast was served at the table in the comfy lounge.
