Claverton Hotel, hotel in Battle

Set in an Edwardian country house within secluded landscaped gardens, Claverton Hotel is located on a country lane. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order using local produce.

Great setting for the hotel - lovely grounds. Plenty of parking. Room was very clean and staff very friendly. There is a bar which serves draught lager. Breakfasts were very good - I had the full English breakfast - all good quality stuff and perfectly cooked. Didn’t try the evening meals. If you’re wine tasting at the Carr-Taylor Vineyard the hotel is just a mile and a quarter away. So it is walkable along a narrow road and a slightly busier road as you near the vineyard.

Little high street with lots of shops, independent mainly and banks. A lot of history in the 1066 country and the museums are free, including the Almonry which is part of the town council building. The town slopes going down to the Monastery, easy to walk down to the church and the Monastery. It costs £16.75 to get into it per adult. English Heritage owns this.

Visiting the abbey and the guide was both informative and amusing. Good town with parking and shops and eateries. Easy to get to the coastal areas. We liked Bexhill on sea. We would highly recommend The Black Horse for lunches and dinner with excellent service. About a five minute drive from the town

Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115!

Historic and interesting town of Battle, 1066 - 1115! Don’t miss St Mary’s Church close to the Abbey on the main High Street, worth an visit! Abundance of tourist, okay that’s expected in mid August. Great for walkers and dogs, most places very welcoming with dogs including bowls of water and sometimes dig biscuits! Interesting High Street with a variety of shops and restaurants. Parking at the Abbey was £4.00 for the day which is a plus.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings , swimming pool, it is not heated . Not a problem I really enjoyed swimming in it. You would not be able to walk into the town of Battle , it would be too far. We found the dinner menu far to expensive for us. So we drove to Battle and had fish and chips. The following evening we went into Bexhill. Battle is beautiful but there is not a lot to do there.

    Everyone was so friendly.

Everyone was so friendly. Good choice I’d restaurants would recommend The Sweet Olive and Trinity. Both in the high street, excellent food and service. Even the staff in Battle Abbey went out of their way to chat and give us information.

A very friendly team with an exceptional room. Me and my husband stayed here the night before our church wedding blessing ceremony. The team were so helpful and understanding by storing our bags before we checked in and letting us get ready in the morning. The room and it's amenities were fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to any couple as it's a beautiful building with a lovely atmosphere in the heart of battle.

This was such a perfect & restful spot. The layout of the site allowed for a peaceful stay, pods and tents were nicely spaced. The site itself is in a beautiful woodland area with outdoor showers & good utilities. The bed was so comfy & options for fire pits and bbq were great. The owners were so thoughtful & personable. Battle has great walks and nearby beaches too. A perfect stay!
