We chose Barmouth as a base for visiting nearby places, including the Dyfi Osprey project, Portmerion, & Harlech Castle, after visiting a couple of years ago and enjoying an afternoon there, breaking our train ride along the scenic coast.
We decided to return this year for a relaxing long weekend & also had a fantastic meal at The Bank Restaurant in Barmouth to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Love the harbour area, fisherman's cottages, walking up on the mountainside and across the railway bridge.
Didn't like the busy areas of the town or fairground. Noisy and crowded.
The sea was a long way out and some areas unsafe for swimming due to strong currents.
Plenty of coffee shops and eating places.
Only a co-op for food shopping.

Nice little coastal town with plenty of restaurants and sights. You can do to the beach, walk down the train bridge, go up the mountain on quite accessible trails, it's all up to you. While a bit touristy, the town is nice, and has very nice people everywhere, helping you to have a good time!

We liked Barmouth. It has a lovely beach. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. If you like walking, Barmouth is ideal. The town proved to be an ideal base for exploring the local area. Besides using the car, you can take advantage of the railway which runs all along the Cambrian coast and is a great alternative.

WE were there for the walks in Snowdonia.
WE were there for the walks in Snowdonia. Barmouth itself is a rather shabby looking town with funfairs and cheap eateries. There is only one good restaurant, Bistro Bermo which did us a beautiful takeaway because they have no room for dogs. The pubs locally served mainly very unhealthy food straight out of the freezer into the microwave. We did have one lovely fresh fish meal at the 'Last Inn'. The level of obesity we saw in Barmouth generally was immediately obvious and very concerning.
Our hotel/B&B was on the outskirts of the town offering stupendous views of the bridge and estuary and into the harbour. It was ideally positioned for walks in Snowdonia and along the coast.
Everything was amazing the staff were so kind and caring towards me and everyone else. I had the best breakfast, coffee and homemade scones ever. I can see the seaside through the window on a sunny day. Good value of money for 2 nights which includes the breakfast. There's umbrellas by the side to use incase it's raining which is a great idea. Beautiful hotel, amazing bathroom and bedroom. One of the best hotels in Barmouth and hopefully I will return one day in the future.
The location was fantastic, central to everything.
Even though it’s next door to the Barmouth pub we didn’t hear anything. Property was clean and shower amazing. Nice Christmas decor was a lovely touch. WiFi fantastic. Towels supplied very luxurious. Dryer came in handy for the rainy walk days when we got socked. Lovely selection of glasses to enjoy a nice wine/ beer. Good selection on the tv/sky. Parking permit left to use main car park on sea front.
The cleanliness of our room was superb. Free toiletries very much appreciated. A nice touch having a fridge in the room. Good quality coathangers! Tea tray was excellent. The hotel is in a great spot for exploring Barmouth. The staff were friendly and helpful.....especially the lady who showed us to our room and the young man behind the bar who looked to be auditioning for Cocktail 2!! The wine price at £11.50 for a bottle of Merlot was very fair.
Beautifully situated hotel, with a gorgeous sea view. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the perfect size for travelling with a dog. The staff were very friendly and informative about the area. Breakfast was amazing, both continental and cooked offered many choices. The honesty bar worked great and was well stocked. Lovely hotel with a short walk into the centre of Barmouth and its beaches.
A thoroughly relaxing break in a superb seafront hotel . Only a few seconds and you're in the wonderful sand dunes with the sea a few yards away . If , like me you get worn out walking , the views are great from seaview room as you crash out ! The hosts are lovely , laid back and welcoming . The whole town is spacious and friendly . 😊
The hotel is ideally placed, just a short walk takes you into Barmouth for the shops & restaurants. The owners are fantastic - so friendly & welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable, the bathroom is spacious and the shower hot. A great place to stay.
Stunning views in peaceful location yet not far from town. Swimming pool and whirlpool surprisingly warm. Our kids loved it. Spotlessly clean and in perfect repair. Great facilities clear, efficient communication and complimentary bottle of wine made us feel special and valued on a budget break.
