Excellent base for the Loire, good access to variety of Château and cities, fabulous bike path and walking opportunities. Excellent bakery next door and were made very welcome at L'Epicerie Gourmande. Very comfortable apartment with good views and relaxing terrace. Interesting modern conversion, providing modern facilities in an interesting building conversion. Particularly comfortable beds and good window coverage, ensured a good night's sleep. Everything you need, including bed linen and towels. Thoughtfully kitted out apartment to make your stay as easy as possible. Good parking arrangements, using the hotel car park opposite the apartment. Very responsive and helpful host.wish we'd had longer here.

We stayed at Pom'Poire in 2018 (just a stop-over) and ate at their restaurant, the food at which I would describe as up-scale, hearty, regional. In those days, dinner was served on a lovely terrace. On this visit we stayed for two nights. Since our last visit there has been a transformation: a Michelin star for the restaurant; a new restaurant added to the back of the auberge and some more rooms in separate cabins. The room (we actually ended up in the same room) is basic but very good, comfortable and not too expensive. The restaurant is very different now, offering a range of tasting menus but is truly excellent and worth booking for. Additionally, fortunately, there is still a donkey and some goats in the adjoining field (the goats are stand-offish but the donkey is very friendly). Further afield, Azay-le-Rideau is a beautiful little town and the villages along the Loire are quite charming.
Hotel Les Trois Lys is situated in the centre of Azay-le-Rideau in the Indre-et-Loire region, a 20-minute drive from Tours. It offers rooms with free WiFi access, and an on-site restaurant.

It needed a lo of maintenance and there was old wooden stairs to a room that was ok but the bathroom was tired and needed a major overall

The restaurant exceeded our expectations- we enjoyed an excellent evening meal.

The Chateaux is the only attraction in Villandry and must be one of the best in France. (Largely due to the fact that it had been in private hands for years and restored). The town is really a stopping point for cyclist and bus tours galore so must get very busy in the summer as the rainy Sunday had a full car park and a dozen buses. Get to the Chateaux early to avoid the crowds. The tourist office is great and worthy a stop. The lady is a credit to the place.

Villandry is a beautiful village with a wonderful chateau.
Villandry is a beautiful village with a wonderful chateau. We have visited here three times now in different seasons and the chateau - especially it's garden - is always magnificent. Each time we have eaten at the Cheval Rouge restaurant opposite the Chateau, which has great food and charming staff.

The Chateau was fabulous, the gardens, well, you can understand why they have 10 full-time gardeners. The grounds are more impressive than Chenonceau.
Inside the Chateau you are reminded of it's history, however you get the sense that this is a family home rather than a museum piece. Most impressed.

The Villandry chateau is wonderful and the gardens are exceptional. Allow plenty of time to see the chateau and gardens. We ate at our hotel - Haut Lys - which was superb and walking distance up the road. Villandry is very small but it does have a decent selection of cafes and restaurants.
Very conveniently placed for visiting the Chateau de Villandry, close to local cafes and restaurants. The property had a lovely terrace which we enjoyed and the kitchen was adequately kitted out. One of the bedrooms (the one at the entrance to the flat) is pleasantly quiet and cool and there are two bathrooms - always welcome for a family.
very nice B&B, lots of indoor space and lovely garden. Close to town centre with some good restaurants and right next to the beautiful Chateau in Villandry. Breakfast was very good. Use of the Swimming pool was refreshing although there was an issue with the heater so a bit cool!
the view of the Chateau was lovely, especially in morning and evening with House Martins swooping about. The property is small but cute and well equipped and had everything we needed. Villandry was a lovely relaxing place to stay.
