We had a very comfortable overnight stop at this hotel. The receptionists were helpful and knowledgeable. There is parking very near to the hotel. The breakfast was good.

Maurice is a great host. He made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our room (Claude) was a "suite". A large room with comfortable bed, sitting area, desk and wardrobe. The room led into a spacious bathroom with a claw foot tub and large shower. Breakfast was exceptional. A choice of eggs, quiche, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, juices and a wide assortment of baked goods. The coissants were delecious. The location of the property was ideal- easy access to restaurants, shops, the Fortress Royal (highly recommend) and the river. Chinon is a beautiful Medieval Town and was a highlight of our trip.
Located in Chinon, facing the Vienne River, this hotel is 800 metres from the train station. It offers free Wi-Fi access, a covered terrace overlooking the street and a furnished courtyard.
Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/...
Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/fortress ruins on small streets that are still used in the daily lives of its’ residents. Although old, it is lively and offers many restaurants and shops for any needs you may have. Rather a charming, old city.

The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history.
The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history. The old town was very picturesque with some excellent restaurants. A lot of climbing although there is a lift from the lower town to the fortress. A good range of shops, cafes and bars.

Chinon has the feel of a village.
Chinon has the feel of a village. It is not that small, but there is a sense of security and ample access to food, wine, and services all reached on foot. There is no need to use a car in town. The weekly market is vey large and we easily reached it on foot even though is was near the opposite end of the town from our apartment. The climb (many steps) to the fortress is well worth the effort but there is also a free elevator provided by the town. If you want to comprehend how nice it is, visit busy Saumur which is full of traffic, stop lights, priorité a droit, steep roads, and noise.

Architecture (limestone) unchanged for centuries, elsewhere troglodyte constructions. Historic castle. Numerous restaurants (especially Hotel de la Paix). Easy access to other Chateaux de la Loire, great atmosphere.
Stepping through the gate at Gîte la comète is stepping into a beautiful, quiet paradise. The gîte is just perfect with a small kitchen, very well equipped, the bedroom/ sitting area is comfortable and spacious. Bathroom is modern and well equipped.
Right outside the door is a small courtyard with chairs, tables, and just perfect for dining or just relaxing. Sylvie, the owner has decorated everywhere with personal knickknacks and plants galore. Our stay there was one of the best we’ve ever stayed!
This is one of the most pleasant places we have stayed in during over 60 years of travel. The location overlooking the river Vienne is beautiful with nothing but the river and forest to look out on. The house is a grand 19th century mansion. Jeanne is a delightful host serving delicious breakfasts and could not be more friendly and helpful. She has fairly limited English but will chat for hours in French. Chinon is about 6km away so it is in easy reach and has a fair selection of restaurants.
Brilliant location, so walking to all parts ofChinon was easy. Having a parking permit included was great. Lovely 13th century apartment, although with a shared loo and bathroom between the two bedrooms. Steep and quite awkward steps to get up to the apartment, which might be a problem for some. Kitchen good, with lots of tea and coffee making equipment, plus oven and hob. Lovely living room, and amazing main bedroom. Wi-Fi worked well.
Beautiful garden and outside spaces. Easy parking outside the gate. Quirky decorating touches. Close to the Château, the excellent boulangerie and wine tasting. Handy for Chinon ( there's a lift down to the old town), Well stocked, small kitchen. Smelt lovely! Plenty to do for 3 days. We really liked it so the few comments 'didn't like' are only small things.
Friendly and helpful owners. good breakfast with some home made products. Simple hotel but well set up. They have improved the outside area which is a nice bonus. Very easy to walk across bridge to Chinon - we love the town and the views are great. Even though no parking with hotel we always find it easy to park nearby.
A large, spacious property situated within a short walk from the lovely town of Chinon. Everything we needed was provided. It was great to be able to use the bikes; it is an exceptional area for cycling and visiting the many, magnificent chateaux in the area.
It was a perfect match for visiting the Loire Valley coming from Paris, A perfect house, with very friendly people to receive us, it was more than perfect. I Strongly recommend to come to Chinon, very beautifull and peacifull city and stay in this house.
The hotel is a beautiful building in an enclosed courtyard with a flourishing garden giving a really sense of luxury. We ate the lovely breakfast with home made marmalades in the terrace and it’s just a short stroll to restaurants and the fortress.
Extremely nice host welcomed us to a very beautiful property. Very complete equipment, comfortable bedding, well equipped kitchen, nice pool, onsite parking...The house is located in a quiet village just outside Chinon.
The welcome was extremely warm and staff was helpful. I was so impressed with how well-kept and cared-for the hotel was. Breakfast was unusually good as well. Overall, I felt it was a tremendous value for money.
The property was basically built into the wall of the Château it had a lovely garden to enjoy the evening sun
It very much felt like someone’s home but you were given full privacy and access
Beautiful property, Chinon was minutes away by car. Host had excellent recommendations, room was quiet and comfortable. Host was always available for any questions or assistance.
This is an amazing hotel , full of character, great comfort and fantastic attention to detail.
Maurice is a wonderful host , exceptionally charming and extremely helpful.
The apartment is in a fantastic location, it was charming, clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved it and we would definitely stay there again if we were in Chinon!
Fantastic apartment in centre of Chinon up a quiet cul-de-sac. Well furnished and clean. Good contact with owners. The whole living space was well thought out.
I had a suite and it was fabulous! So nice to have a sitting area and a balcony! Also, the location of the hotel is great, just a short walk into town!
