We were unfortunate with the weather - our intention had been to take several hikes around the Les Rousses area, but once the temperature dropped from the mid-30s (on day 2) it then started to rain with heavy downpours and thunder storms, meaning that hiking was not really an option. Unfortunately, without a car in the rain in August (with many businesses on holiday), there isn't that much to do in Les Rousses itself - the Fort des Rousses is great, but you do need reasonable weather for the other outdoor activities. We also had to arrange transport as we don't drive, and the local taxi service is limited (book well in advance if you need a taxi). But the walk to the lake is lovely as is the walk up to the Roche Blanche (and I think the hike to Le Noirmont would also have been great had we been able to complete it or see anything....).

Les Rousses is at the ideal altitude for body regeneration (1000-1500).
Beautiful green landscapes. Close to rural activities (cows breeding). Numerous restaurants available at a good price. Huge spaces for everyone. Walks available around the lake. Swiss country reach at 2 km.
It's a location I'm used to go over and over without ever getting bored.

Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking.
Les Rousses is a fantastic centre for day walking. There are dozens of well marked routes of various length and for different abilities. Just buy the walking map from the Office of Tourism and you are ready to go. I have no car and had enough walks for a week. If you have a car the possibilities are endless. Some of those hills are really steep so have fun! There is a good mix of open and forest walking.
Hotel in the village centre surrounded by restaurants, bar, shops but surprisingly quiet at night. Had a good sleep :-)
Free public carpark nearby- 2 mins walk
Clean, comfortable room.
A kettle in the room for tea, coffee.
We had a nice dinner in the hotel, friendly happy staff.
The lady at the reception was lovely, always smiled and we felt welcomed when we arrived.
This was our first time in Les Rousses and sure we would be back. Nice place in the beautiful nature with lovely people :-)
We had a huge room with view over the golf course and surrounding hills and two balconies. The beds were firm and comfortable. The bathroom was not big but had a great shower. Breakfast was ample and fresh and included diy egg cooking facilities (so make them as runny as you want).
The bar was open until approx 1900 and served lunch but no dinner. The hotel is a bit outside of the village so you will need to walk or use a car to get into Les Rousses. Great place to stay even as a non-golfer.
Spacious rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff, very friendly and helpful owners. Location is great in the center of Les Rousses close to pretty much everything
