Auberge Pom'Poire, hotel in Azay-le-Rideau

Auberge Pom’Poire is located in an orchard just on the boarder of Azay le Rideau. It features air-conditioned and soundproofed rooms that are individually decorated in a country-style.

We stayed at Pom'Poire in 2018 (just a stop-over) and ate at their restaurant, the food at which I would describe as up-scale, hearty, regional. In those days, dinner was served on a lovely terrace. On this visit we stayed for two nights. Since our last visit there has been a transformation: a Michelin star for the restaurant; a new restaurant added to the back of the auberge and some more rooms in separate cabins. The room (we actually ended up in the same room) is basic but very good, comfortable and not too expensive. The restaurant is very different now, offering a range of tasting menus but is truly excellent and worth booking for. Additionally, fortunately, there is still a donkey and some goats in the adjoining field (the goats are stand-offish but the donkey is very friendly). Further afield, Azay-le-Rideau is a beautiful little town and the villages along the Loire are quite charming.

Fantastic location with just a short walk into the town with its many restaurants and attractions. The room was extremely well equipped with modern decor and amenities, patio doors open out onto a secluded garden with private seating and table. The breakfast area and caves give the property a uniqueness that adds to the experience. The breakfast itself is locally sourced and very well presented. The secure parking is a bonus when travelling with a fully loaded car. It's fun to walk around the garden and check out the punky chickens and the wishing tree. Isabela and Jerome are the perfect hosts. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Loire region.

We were travelling, so unfortunately only one night in Azay but managed to see the amazing chateau. Smaller than some of the others in the Loire but really interesting. Loved the small streets and ate in a great local restaurant. Would definitely come back to this town and hotel. Can’t wait in fact .

A lovely little town that has as its central draw the fabulous chateau. Unlike many French towns which present a grey, shuttered facade to the visitor, this one looks almost like a film set of a quintessential French town - which is not to say that it's tacky, just right. Nice bars and some great restaurants with a couple of Michelin jobs.

    Lovely little town!

Lovely little town! The chateau far exceeded our expectations, and we took longer to go round than we thought we would, as there was so much to see and admire. Some of the restaurants weren't open in the evening, but the ones we went to didn't disappoint, although the menu at one of them was quite limited, and didn't change from day to day.

Stayed at the hotel on an overnight stop and to visit Azay-Le-Rideau. Hotel is easy to find and has a large car park. Nice clean room which thankfully had aircon. Friendly staff speak English if required. Really nice evening meal and a buffet breakfast the next morning. The hotel is on the edge of town so its a 10-15 min walk into the centre

The biggest virtue of this hotel is a friendly gentleman at the reception. And it's close to Chateau.
