Wonderful location, so tranquil and brilliantly placed for getting the gondola to Lake Oeschinensee, which turned out to be one of my top hikes of all time - wow!
Hotel Ermitage is super cute. The restaurant is lovely and had plenty of delicious vegetarian choices for me. Breakfast is great. The views are amazing.
We went into the hot pot after a strenuous day hiking which was so much fun and perfect for soothing the muscles!
We stargazed at the beautiful night sky from the hotel car park with the tinkling of cow bells from the field.

Kandersteg is a really lovely valley and town - not as touristy as other places but really beautiful and charming. I can recommend the tourist office (very nice people), Beckerei Marmotte for a real authentic village bakery and cafe/restaurant, and all the walks and cablecars - I can't wait to be back.

Easy travels whether on foot or from train and bus stops. Plenty of places to stop for coffee or buy a snack. Sunnbüel, Oeschinensee and Blausee are a must see.
Use the SBB app and google maps and you won’t get lost. If you have a half day to spare, take the bus to Adelboden just for the scenery.

Such a cute little town to spend a couple of days in! I wish I had stayed more than a night, but at this time of year I'm not sure there would have been that much more to do if I were staying a week or something. There does seem to be skiing in the winter, though, so I'm sure other travelers have much more to do during the winter!

Literally a hidden gem.
Literally a hidden gem. There is so much to do here and we didn't know about any. Go to Tourist Office and they will give you a fantastic overview based on your interestests and hiking abilities. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful alpine valley. We were there in early June. The weather was awful but the flowery meadows suberb. Regular train service to the rest of Switzerland. Plenty of places to eat out of an evening.

Very nice and quiet region, perfect for relaxation. Breathtaking scenery .We had a pleasant and also challenging hike to the nearby Lake. Kandersteg is a perfect place to stay and go around with car/train. We also paid a visit to Jungfrau Joch, which was memorable.

Wow! Kandersteg is the most beautiful, picturesque little village. The hotel was superb and had the traditional Alpine/Chalet theme. We arrived a few hours early and the very helpful lady at reception took our bags so that we could go out exploring. When we returned these had been taken up to our room already. The room was large and had a spectacular view of the mountains. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, and we especially loved the resident cat!
Food- fresh and delicious, staff- very friendly, fast and helpful, location- hotel surrounded by beautiful mountains, facilities- outdoor hot pot with beautiful mountain view, well equipped gym, kitchen facilities. Comfortable mattress.
Staffs here are so charming and friendly. Room is warm and comfortable. The hotel itself is very interesting, full of nice surprising design.
It is really an outstanding experience to stay here.
Breakfast was nice. It was near the train station and city center, the surroundings were nice and there was a nice lake behind the hotel. The restaurant food was delicious.
