Park on the river was OK if you avoided the duck feces...

Park on the river was OK if you avoided the duck feces everywhere. The city centre looked depressed (many vacant shops and charity shops) and somewhat threatening. The RSL bistro was OK but the access to the club itself needs better sign posting for non-locals. My patner injured her leg in the dark steps tryng to reach the club entry from the side of the river. What a joke!

    Great Township to visit.

Great Township to visit. Plenty of great Cafes with great food. Lots of Supermarkets to choose from. Our favorite places to visit was the Slim Dusty Museum. It was great to see Slim Dusty and his Family's history in one place.

Beautiful town with Saturday market on the first Saturday...

Beautiful town with Saturday market on the first Saturday day of every month next to the Riverside Park. I was there while the market was still on with beautiful people, fun and friendly singer, supportive audiences. And of course, don't skip on the local products which you should go around and you might find something you like inside the market with about 20 stalls. I was lucky enough to catch up on the historical car show just right next to the market and the river. If you drive from Sydney towards Brisbane or reverse, Must be check out this peaceful local town.

I liked the sports fields where I could do my morning run :). I didn't like the Magpie that kept swooping me as I ran up and down the field :( The RSL serves great food - we had the roast of the day - fantastic

It's a very pretty town with some nice cafes and restaurants. The Riverside walk is great with many information boards that detail the history of the area. The kids park by the river in town is really good. Parking is easy, and there are clean public toilets next to the park. Lou's cafe is a highlight! We had breakfast, but will also have dinner there next time.

Slim Dusty Center well displayed of Slim Dusty memorabilia.

Slim Dusty Center well displayed of Slim Dusty memorabilia. The Center is very clean and coffee in the coffee shop is excellent to my taste. The Crescent head lookout is stunning and the surf beach is amazing.

After a long day of travelling, we just needed somewhere to rest our heads for a while. The Great Northern Hotel waited for us and stayed open a few minutes passed their closing time so that we could check in. So grateful!

Pleasant staff. Place was clean, but it’s quite old (which is fine). Quiet location now that Kempsey has been bypassed. Could do with a larger TV. Great new air conditioner in my room.
