Staff accommodated my late arrival. Bed was super comfy
Bairnsdale is a large country town. The Catholic Church as you you enter from the Melbourne side on the left is definitely worth a visit. A volunteer is available and has a wealth of information in relation to the church and history of the area. Not to be missed.
There are plenty of shops, the Potted Pear, gift wares, is great.
There are museums, historical and Aboriginal.
Bairnsdale is a lovely place for a day visit.

Typical Australian town which is busy during the day and completely dead at night. Felt quite safe to walk around early evening but can't comment on late evening. All usual shops available.
We ate at the Cow & Fish Pub which was excellent for food but lacked soft furnishings in the dining area. Felt it was a bit like a social club rather than a hotel/restaurant.
Very convenient for us as travelling down to Paynesville and Lakes Entrance which is only a 25 minute drive away. Also played golf at Metung Country Club which was excellent including lunch at the club house.

Our stay was way too short.
Our stay was way too short. Bairnsdale allows you the perfect location to explore the region.
You have to try the Thai restaurant Cinnamon, it was amazing and the flavours are on point.
We ventured to Metung and Lakes Entrance and could have easily done multiple days at both locations.

RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather.
RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather. surrounding cafes served overpriced meals. A lot of foot traffic around left us not leaving doors unlocked. We used it as a destination for the hotel. And that is where it ended. however we only stayed one night.

The Mitchel River Tavern is an interesting place to stay.
The Mitchel River Tavern is an interesting place to stay. Close to the centre of Bairnsdal, it has comfortable accommodation, a Bistro, Barm, Club and off-street parking.
Staff were helpful and checkin and out was fast and relaxed.
Previously known as Kansis City the motel is showing its age - BUT despite that the new owner was most welcoming and already started on the needed upgrades. It has the best location in Bairnsdale being on the main road in the center of the city. Sure, there quite a few things to do but if you are looking the most convenient central site in the city and needing a comfortable, quiet night you should consider the Castle (previously the Kansas City)
The manager was friendly, helpful, and obliging.
The Motel was quiet, despite being central to the main town of Bairnsdale.
The Motel is old, but relatively clean and all facilities were in working order.
The fridge and freezer in particular, was perfect.
The bed was firm and comfortable.
I felt safe and secure in the motel room I stayed in.
The facilities felt fresh and up-to-date - the room was clean, spacious and bright. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner was lovely. I recommend the hotel restaurant, too. There didn't seem to be many restaurants within walking distance, so my friend and I had breakfast there each morning and really enjoyed it.
Breakfast is not provided at the Hotel, but it is located a very short walk to a selection of quality cafes that provide great breakfast options. We travelled to the Hotel from Melbourne by train, and the Hotel is only a short walk from the Bairnsdale train station, so it was very convenient, indeed!
Cheap, clean, good shower and bathroom. Comfy bed. Great ceiling fan and opened windows. Little fridge has freezer section. Toaster, kettle, coffee, tea etc. Would stay again. Love this style of motel as I can park directly outside my room. Easy to find.
It's off the main drag, so it's much quieter than the previous place we stayed at in Bairnsdale. It's not sparkly new, but it's perfectly fine. Nothing to complain about, and the staff (the manager at the desk) was very helpful and cheery.
Every time we stay in Bairnsdale, we stay here. I couldn’t fault the room. It’s always clean, the beds are comfy, the parking is close by, and it’s reasonably priced. It is also central to town. Really enjoyed our stay 😊
rooms are very clean linen was very fresh and clean.whole hotel very quiet even when full.staff are excellent and easy to communicate with, wouild recommend this hotel to anyone travelling through or staing in bairnsdale
It had everything we needed and we were happy with what was provided at such a budget price. Very close to all shops in the heart of Bairnsdale, also very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. Friendly service.
Lovely historic place. Hotel part fully renovated and in brand new condition. Ate at the restaurant and the food was great. Staff in all areas of the Hotel were amazing. Overall a great place to have stayed at.
We had clean, comfortable rooms; friendly, helpful staff; and great service, as always. We have stayed here numerous times previously, and it is always our first choice when we visit Bairnsdale.
Reception was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and pleasant with a modern clean ensuite. The hotel is centrally located which allowed you walk and explore Bairnsdale without driving.
The location suited us as we were driving through to Bega. Situated on the main road into Bairnsdale, close to the RSL for meals. Very good location and remarkably quiet.
