It’s a really good experience to stay in this fantastic hotel!!
The room is very clean and the view is mind-blowing, as shown in the picture. There’s even a heat light that keeps you warm after showering and heating rack for towels in the bathroom and many other appliances which is so sweat. Besides the room, they decorated the dining area so well that I had a good time eating there with the view of the ocean. Also, the hosts are so nice.❤️ This accommodation is definitely worth visiting when you come to Kangaroo Island!

There’s literally nothing at American River except the lovely oyster farm shop that has terrific seafood. If you go to Kangaroo Island, which is beautiful, stay at Kingscote. The Ozone Hotel has good food and rooms as a start.

Nice quiet area, pretty and not too far from Kingscote where there are some pubs, shops and fishing off the Jetty. If you're looking for a peaceful area to stay them American River is the place for you.

American river is quiet and has interesting history and little walks. With driving after 6pm not recommended it is rather good that the restaurant is excellent. (some hire car companies offer NO INSURANCE COVERAGE if vehicles are driven after 6pm - because of likelihood of wildlife strike).

It's a peaceful place and cool to see pelicans, black swans and the rare glossy black cockatoos. However, there isn't really a swimming beach so it is maybe more for fishing trips than beach-goers. Staying in the hotel means you are limited to eating out and there are few options (the hotel is excellent but expensive) - 2 nights here was great but we were happy to move on where we had more options of activities and food for the rest of our trip.

Well equipped house, very comfortable and roomy. Has 2 separate toilets. Nice view from main bedroom, kitchen and living/lounge rooms, verandah/deck the full width of the house. Very pleasant to sit on the deck after a day of sightseeing, enjoying a glass of local wine. There is a small supermarket that is quite well stocked. It's 20-30 mins to Kingscote where there is a good sized Drake's supermarket and more restaurants. The local Oyster Farm shop has good fresh oysters, but is only open from 11am to 3pm.
Property was relatively new build. Bedrooms were on the small side but comfortable. Open plan living area worked OK for our family of 4. All necessary facilities were included. Though it's located around 400m from the beach/dock. It's quite a hike up the hill back to the property. We did find some beautifully scenic walks in and around American River which we enjoyed..
Breakfast was as expected, maybe a little bit more variety would help, but being out of holiday season it's understandable.
The host were terrific. They treated us like family and we appreciated their friendship.
The location was a bit out of the way but if you're looking for peace and quite then you have it.

Good location though American River itself didn't have much and couldn't really go to the beach there as muddy.
The location overlooking American River is lovely. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and the food cooked by Owner/Chef Nicholas is amazing. Even provided a breakfast pack for me to have in my room as I had an early morning departure.
Excellent view over American River. Fully equipped kitchen on gas was great. Comfortable lounges, tv in lounge and each bedroom. Excellent shower with high water pressure. Lots of books, cds, games to access. Plenty of room to spread out.
Photo's of the property were taken quite a while ago, It was a bit like stepping back into a 1980's motel. Bed was comfortable. Dining menu was limited but food was good quality. Location was lovely. Housekeeping staff were excellent.
The location in American River is amazing. It is very peaceful and relaxing. There are many birds to listen to and watch.

The hotel blends perfectly into the bush and makes you feel like your in a remote escape. The staff are excellent especially Yuki who went above above and beyond our whole trip. Also the food was excellent.
Located just infront of American river(perfect location), the house is clean, beautifully decorated and well equipped with every little item you need for a vaccay. Overall experience was awesome.
