Cottage was warm and comfortable, very nicely done with everything you need for your stay. The local local Cafe, the Bake Well does lovely food selection. The coffee and cakes great. Lots of walking local to the cottage. Good quiet location. 3 pubs local, we ate in the kings arms, good food, reasonable prices. Would stay again.

Beautiful house, full of history, character and charm. Rural location set in a small hamlet not far from Hawes. Everything was provided for and the host, Anna, replied immediately to messages. Our grandchildren loved exploring the house and the gardens attracted a lot of wildlife. The aga kept the kitchen warm throughout, heating was adequate not to light the fires of a night. Countersett has that cosy cottage feel . I will definitely recommend it to family and friends.

For such an ancient building, the interior has been very cleverly designed to meet today`s standards of comfort without changing the overall atmosphere of being in a house that has seen a few centuries. The kitchen was better equipped than most we have come across in many years of travel. The fireplace is a plus, even though the LPG central heating was very effective. Historic features such as "bee boles" harmonically fitted into the more modern interior. The lake is a short walk, and the cute town of Hawes with its pubs, shops and sights (Wensleydale creamery, National Park centre ... ) a short drive only.
