Timeless Inca Capital
Regarded as the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and its historical capital, none of these things are enough to describe the magic enchainment and colourful people of Cusco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites. A good example is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
Must see places include the walled complex of ‘Sacsayhuamán’, and the remains of the main temple of ‘Coricancha’, dedicated to the Sun God ‘Inti’. For longer Cusco stays, hotels near ‘Plaza de Armas’ central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 3400-metres altitude, some Cusco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.
Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 46 km away, while the Titicaca Lake is 390 km away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or ‘Camino Inca’, which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.

Culturally rich city with incredible archeological sites to visit. Most see are the Rainbow mountain, Sacred valley, Saqsawaman, Moray, Salt valley, Chinchero, Pisca. Stay close to city center gives added advantage to walk around, but their tourist services are excellent. Very nice city with wide historical center and many 1-day excursions to mountains and ancient Incas ruins available. Hotels (in May) are very cheap! Despite its location in the mountains, the city is heavily polluted by cars. Cusco was like stepping back in time. Cobble stone streets, music on every corner, the smell of the most delicious food everywhere, it was truly a city to be seen! The people here are one of the most friendly and helpful people we have encountered in our world travels. I never felt unsafe or scared on the streets of Cusco. Cusco is such a pretty little walkable city, enjoyed exploring it. Lots of pretty views all around. I really like the fact that it is the base to almost all the main tours - Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain. The bed is really comfortable. There is hot water and good water pressure (which I heard is not so common in Cusco). The staff are wonderful and helpful people! They stored our luggage’s while we were at Machu Picchu and let us stay longer to wait our transfer from Cusco.
