The Perch is a beautifully presented property, tucked away in a gorgeous private setting in a pretty garden with birdsong, native plants and herbs. The owners have thought of everything needed for a romantic stay, from the food provisions, through to the high quality towels, robes and kitchen facilities. Lots of wildlife, including sheep in the next door paddock, and a cheeky possum who set off the light sensor a few times.

My kids loved the animals and being able to feed them in the morning was a real novelty. Basic cabins but had everything we needed - heater included which was good as it's cold in August! A good stop on our way back from Cape Reinga. Nice little coffee shop and takeaways a short walk away. Also a bike path around the waterfront to playground. We visited Hendersons Beach, as recommended by our host, which was absolutely spectacular.

Beautiful country stay, especially if you want somewhere close to Cape Reinga, the host is easy and prompt to communicate with and the lodge is very nice and clean!
Kitchen facility is easy to use and the common area is comfy. Awesome that the rooms have its own en-suite!
