Super friendly owner. She takes care of everything(arranged transport there and away with her, safari and she is also a Great Chef) We arranged a wonderful safari to bundala national park with her. We saw many birds, crocodiles, tortoise, elephants. The driver and guide was very nice. The family room is spacious and clean. Beds are very comfortable. Thanks a lot! And kind regards to everyone in the team ( all very friendly) and her lovely sons. My girls are enjoined playing with the 6 year old and loved the baby!

This is an amazing property located in a quiet area surrounded by nature. It is quiet, remote and has plenty of opportunities to view amazing species of birds, monkeys, and other local nature all while relaxing on the property. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. When I stayed here I was one of the only guests for a few nights and the staff here made me feel safe and at home. It is truly a great retreat, very good prices and food and an overall excellent experience. Would visit here again and highly recommend!

It is basically a fishing town and industrial zone with the new Port famous for maritime transshipment of cargo to other parts of the world.
Main attraction is the Shangri-La Hotel and pristine 18 hole golf course whcih I rate best in Sri Lanka.

I have read a few reviews of Hambantota where people seem mad that they don't have bars and restaurants. And to those people I say: get yourself together. Hambantota is a tsunami affected area with lovely people who invite you in for tea, lunch and dinner just to chat, or talk about their experiences. I have met so many locals who I will remember for ever because of their hospitality and the stories they shared. To degrade this town simply because it is not full of tourist attractions is embarrassing. Hambantota has so much more.

We stayed in Hambantota because we were doing a safari at Yala National Park and Hambantota was the nearest coastal town. We were sadly disappointed as it is a rather rundown town. It is a mostly muslim town so there is very little in the way of entertainment and no bars or restaurants. The people were in the main friendly but my wife was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by most of the men who openly and blatantly stared and ogled her. My recommendation is that you stay somewhere else if you are looking for somewhere close to Yala national park to stay.
