My recent stay at Hotel Barbareek was a mixed bag of experiences. We booked a 5-person room, which was comfortable and adequate for our needs. However, the hotel's parking lot was located under a dirty bridge, which was not very appealing and felt somewhat unsafe.
One positive aspect was the complimentary breakfast provided during our stay and the service was satisfactory.
Unfortunately, the location of the hotel was a significant downside. Nestled in the midst of a vegetable market place, the surroundings were far from hygienic. The air was filled with a foul smell, and navigating through the narrow and dirty roads around the hotel was a challenge.
In summary, if you can overlook the less-than-ideal location and parking situation, Hotel Barbareek might suffice for a short stay. However, those sensitive to unhygienic surroundings may want to explore other options in the area.

Place is really beautiful, awesome vibes .Locals are helpful , food is good . Only problem is when you plan your trip , check the weather for upcoming 2-3 days , because continuous rain for the whole day or may be multiple days can ruin your trip . i will recommend to visit this place in Nov - April and may . And yes don’t forget to bring your jackets , warm clothes , Raincoat , umbrella with you . Cause weather changes here like humans. 😝

Shillong is a very nice state capital city in the North Eastern part of India. This is a valley surrounded by mountains, so you can have great sign seeing options.
There are few nice places to visit in the city itself like the hydari park, st xavier's museum, lake etc. The heart of the city, Police Bazar, is very crowded. But it has some good shops and restaurants.
The food scene of Shillong is limited. There are few good restaurants in Police Bazar and in the surroundings. But mostly closed after 7/ 730 in the evening.
If you are staying outside PB, you will have very few food options. And the quality are not good too. Like average noodles and momos.
however, there are a number of places to visit outside Shillong. The Cherrapunjee area, The Mawliyong area with the living root bridge etc. Jowai and Krang Shuri falls, though a bit far

Peaceful place with helping people and their everlasting smiles and hospitality makes this place worth for everything. people here are simple and genuine, they are happy in the little ,they lead a simple life and work hard for it. I have not seen child labour here. There were No chotu's on any of the shops . Taxis are available everywhere or otherwise you can walk up. A life is not enough to explore shillong. I went to east khasi hills and got thrilled with its beauty. But there is much much more...
It's a beautiful place. Those who love nature will find beauty in every small Little thing here. Would like to come again and again.

I recently took a trip to Shillong and was blown away by its beauty. The city is surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery, making it a nature lover's paradise. Overall, I would highly recommend Shillong as a travel destination for anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Make sure you get a personal bike for rent to explore everything.

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya situated on top. Shillong is a beautiful place and most of the sights are very clean. The evenings are crowded in police bajar and around where you can shop and have multiple types of foods including resturant cafes and street food. Taxis are available from everypoint for sightseeing and Meghalaya tourism also has bus services which are very much budget friendly.
The owner has a great sense of hospitality. Even the staff are courteous and friendly. The food tasted great even in such a remote location. The location could not have been better for a weekend trip to Shillong. Those who want a great time and experience the true nature of Meghalayan hospitality, this is the place I would suggest. If someone is travelling with 'Work from Home' responsibilities, do visit this place where you could work in such a peace of mind. We never wanted to leave this place.
Room and bathroom were clean and as shown in photos. Staff was courteous and cooperative. Nearest market (Laitumkhrah) with cafes, restaurants and local shops is just 700-800 mts away but need to take a taxi or car since it is uphill. In-house restaurant (The Mango Tree) has an amazing ambience and serves delicious food (chilly garlic noodles and Tom-yum soup are a must try).
This is hands down the best place to stay in Shillong, absolutely worth every penny. The location is fab, the staff is super sweet and accomodated every need and requirement - Santosh ji ❤️

Windermere inn is a very good hotel & resort for stay in shillong. It is located some distance away from the centre but for a family holiday it is a good place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The facilities are superb and the staff are very polite and helpful. The restaurant Bresto 16 serves very delicious food. Overall a very good resort.
If you want a peaceful stay in Shillong away from the crowds of Police Bazar, this place would be perfect. It is a very beautiful traditional Khasi house with a very well maintained garden, and the owner is friendly and helpful. As a bonus, they have 3 cute dogs. Restaurants in the Laitumkhrah area are a short walking distance from the property.
Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and I have to say that the staffs were good, well mannered, polite and will help you in any trouble you have. The location is peaceful, but not too far from the main areas. The complimentary breakfast was good. The rooms were clean and hygienic. Overall, a very good experience. 10/10 would highly recommend.

We were presently surprised as it was an unplanned trip and we did bookings after reaching shillong. Owner shanti was too good of a host, never felt like we were staying in a hotel, more sort of home. Also, the recommendations she gave for visting off beat places were good
