A family hotel in a lovely village,
in my opinion the most worthwhile place in Zagoria.
We stayed at the hotel for four nights;
Sofia and her two sons, Christos and Theodore were charming, made us feel at home.
Spacious rooms, excellent service, generous breakfast.
The hotel also has an Italian restaurant with a selection of excellent and delicious dishes.
And most importantly, it's their humanity and caring.

Unforgettable 5 days in Monodendri.
Unforgettable 5 days in Monodendri. On first day, we had a hike from the Village of Vicos, which is a few kilometers down from Monodendri, to the villages of Koukouli and Kipoi, over beautiful stone bridges. The next day we hiked to Lake Drakolimni. On the third day, we visited the Voidomatis River and the beautiful villages of Papingo and Mikro Papingo, and bathed in natural stone baths. Monodendri is an excellent choice for a base if you are visiting Zagori. Village is small and calm, tavernas with excellent food. Stone houses, with stone roofs, excellent view.

A couple of interesting places to visit nearby: Monastery of Agia Paraskevi (at the outskirts of the village accessible on foot), and Stone Forest ( >1-hour hiking or 20 min drive). Proximity to Papigo and Aristi (starting point for rafting at Voidomatis River). Short-distance drives to visit characteristic stone arch bridges in the area.

A beautiful and well preserved village, in an area of great natural beauty. The village has some nice restaurants and coffee shops, while the Rizarios Foundation organises interesting exhibitions. Mondendri is an excellent base for exploring the wider area (hiking or by car).

It is a good starting point for exploring the area, especially if you have a car with you. Walks from the village to the viewing point or down to the river are very good as well. Main thing: if you want to walk to the viewing point first find the old square with the platanos tree, the trail starts there and is also marked from the square (blue trail).
It is also a good spot to leave your car and start a hiking holiday. It is not as romantic but cheaper than Papingo. We also loved the restaurant opposite the hotel (Dionysos restaurant), where we felt at home very quickly and where the offer good local food at reasonable prices.

Monodendri is a very nice village in the heart of Zagorochoria. There are a couple of very nice taverns in the central square of the village with nice food. Close to the central square also start two hiking trails: the one that crosses the Vikos Gorge and the trail to the neighboring village of Vitsa. On the main road there is a coffeeshop that serves great coffee.
We liked everything about our stay at MountGrace. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious with a superb view of the mountains. The tips for restaurants in the neighbourhood were great. The best part was however the breakfast. It is served to your table and it is very generous. Everything is home made and just excellent.
We stayed here to do the hike through the Vikos gorge and it is very convenient as you can just start from the village square which is 100 meters from the hotel.
We spent 2 nights in this wonderful hotel. We have been upgraded to a Maisonette Suite without additional charge. The hotel is elegant and very comfortable, with beautiful amenities. The staff were extremely friendly and spoke excellent English. The room was very spacious, clean, comfortable, large and has a great view. The lounge area of the hotel was very cozy and we had a delicious Breakfast. The wi-fi signal was strong. My wife had a great massage done by Helen. Strongly recommended.
So authentic and beautiful!The house located in the center of picturesque Monodendri just a few steps from the view point and Vikos gorge trail starting point.
The house has all necessary facilities for a comfortable stay, we enjoyed the fireplace every evening.
The hosts are amazing! We were greeted with homemade pies, jams and other local products for a breakfast, the recommendations for places to visit and to eat were great!

The room was spacious and it was so warm and cozy that it felt like the master bedroom of a really nice house. Wooden furniture with marble tops and a very comfortable bed. Everything was squeaky clean and always smelling amazing. The staff was welcoming and eager to show us around.

Definitely worth staying and a really easy suggestion for anyone visiting Zagori.
Excellent breakfast, very nice owner. The village and surrounding area is very peaceful. It is a truly authentic place in a Greek village, with all the pros and cons. If you are expecting a boutique hotel, you will be a little disappointed, but if you want to experience the real Greek atmosphere, I definitely recommend this place.
p.s. the flock of sheep with the shepherd in front of the door in the morning was great :)
I loved my stay in the Arktouros. The family that run it are so kind and welcoming. The location is spectacular. On the edge of Monodendri, my balcony had a view of the Gorge, and on one morning, deer in the garden! The restaurant is lovely, perfect pasta and pizza. Quiet at night. I made it through the Gorge and the rain held off! A fantastic day. I will be back. Thank you!
This is a brand new small property situated at the entrance to Monodendri with lovely views down the valley - we were able to park on the road just outside.
The room was very well decorated, with very comfortable bed and a great shower.
Breakfast was served on the terrace just outside the room and was delicious and plentiful.
The host was very pleasant and welcoming.
First of all the location of the Village is ideal to explore the area, located in the middle of Zagori.
The hotel was located on the top of the village offering stunning views of the mountains, with very easy access by car. Comfortable bed, very spacey and clean rooms. The owners really warm and friendly and lastly a great breakfast to start the day exploring!!! !
When we arrived it seemed like a small place, which indeed it was. However, this was the best place we slept in Zagoria.
Vaso & George are so charming, very helpful and did whatever they can for us to enjoy our stay. Vaso prepared very delicious breakfast with local Greek food. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Definitely a place I highly recommend.
The hotel was on the main road into the village but was very quiet. The manager was very welcoming and accommodating, with information on the nearby sights. Breakfast (8-10am) was more than sufficient: eggs cooked to order with bacon if desired! An excellent base from which to explore the Vikos Gorge and Zagori region.

The breakfast was amazing! Stunning location in the mountains close to many hiking spots with lovely, friendly hosts. Definitely need a car to get there; but if you like small towns, Monodendri is beautiful and nice and cool in the summer months in Greece.
