Staying at Ippola was a totally unique experience. The hotel is a historical building which has been restored with great love and attention to detail. It is situated in a tiny village right next to the sea. We loved the breakfasts and the chef explained how she used local ingredients and traditional food. We had an amazing room (junior suite) and sat on the balcony looking out over the village and views out to sea. We swam in the two beaches - one just across the road. Clear water with lots of fish. It was a totally relaxing and beautiful stay.

Compact but perfectly comfortable for two adults and a teenager. Nicely furnished and tastefully decorated. Small seating area on terrace next to room and more space downstairs for eating. Quiet beach opposite with jetty to jump off into clear water. Low key town. Very friendly cats. Value for money.

Small historic village half way between Mesa Mani capital, Areopolis, and the southern tip of Tainaron.
Lots of characteristic tower houses - some restored and some waiting for the process to happen. This part of Mani is so beautiful, the restorers are never fair away.
The village has the back drop of the Mani central mountain range, with the rugged coast to the front. Koita is a mile or so inland, but the sea is easily accessed.
Olive trees surround the settlements, and the only noise is the morning cockerels. The one blight is actually a double ended sword - the only mini market for miles is on the main road through the village. Very handy. But what an eye sore! That forgiven, Koita is an amazingly beautiful place - and hosts the first class luxury hotel Citta dei Nicliani.
