Lovely area to stay if you like walking/ hiking straight from your accommodation. Get the Sunflower book to the Southern Peloponnese and the EXO Mani Anavasi map before you go. Village has a good variety of interesting restaurants to suit all budgets. 3 supermarkets, good wine shop, travel advice shop and boutiques. There are a dozen or so free sunbeds/ parasols on the little beach by Psaras restaurant.
The village is on a bus route but check the timings in the travel agent in the square.(timetable outside)- next to the bakery - great spinach pies!!
West Mani taxis very good and punctual (used them to/from Kalamata and to local walks)
Kardamili is a delightful village, lots of stone houses, cobbled streets and interesting surroundings we loved exploring

kardamili is a small village with at least 12 eating places ranging from high end to cafes most serve traditional greece menus it is so pretty and friendly with a good range of clothing, holiday and daily shops 3 small supermarkets stock everything. the main street has all of the shops with quiet little roads leading off. the town beach is right there with a carpark next to it. further along the coast road is the beginning of Ritsa beach which is walkable (3 minutes to the beginning and 15 to the far end. do not miss the old town up the back of the main street 10 minutes walk with a wonderful museum of Mani life (go in the cooler hours of the day) 2E each. kardamili is also perfectly situated for trips to other villages , kalamata and further afield Hire cars can be got in the village. mountain walking is a thing but not in high summer or for us.

Kardamili is not really planned with a really busy main Street. To get to know it requires walking around and exploring, local people are very friendly. If you are young person looking for “night life” forget it.

A charming seaside town with chalet-like houses, its turquoise bays lined with dark cypress trees and pines and framed by the mighty Mt Taygetus. Paddy and Joan Leigh Fermor’s legacy draws people here for a visit of their book-lined home, bequeathed to the Benaki and run as a hotel, open for visits to the public on Monday. Kardamyli has some incredible dining options: we were bowled over by the quality and service at Lela’s Taverna. Tikla and Elies are other good options. Drinks at Aquarello. Kardamyli is also a good base to explore ancient Messinia, Diros Caves, Gerolimenas (worth the trip for a meal at Kyrimai) and Mystras.

Kardamilli is a very interesting old town with historic buildings, a museum in the Old Town and delightful shops and restaurants. The path up to Aghia Sofia has stunning views and you can go further into the mountains or across to Petrouvni through a beautiful wooded valley. The beach at Kalamitsi is good and accessible through an olive grove. The pebbly beach at Ritsa has places to eat or drink too. We like to get the bus to Kalamata, Aghios Nikolaus and Stoupa and that is very easy from Kardamili or you can book taxis.

We were here for just one night and would love to have stayed longer. Our room was large with a kitchenette and the view from our balcony of the sunset over the sea was INCREDIBLE. Breakfast the next morning was brought up to our room so we could eat out on our balcony. The swimming pool is nice and they supply pool towels. The service was outstanding. I mistakenly left something behind in the room and they found it and mailed back to me in the USA! I am so thankful!
Beautiful, characterful property in a lovely little hamlet above Kardamyli. Very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The air conditioning was extremely effective and very welcome in the midsummer heat. Would highly recommend to any family or group visiting the area!
Amazing stay!!! The infinity pool just above a beautiful beach with beautiful sunsets, lovely spaces room, so clean and comfortable and the fun terrace. We hope to return!!
The host was so patient with our late arrival and other requests.
One of the best hotels ever!
What an amazing stay. The villa was beautiful, with a spacious indoor setting and a wonderful outdoor area. The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk outside of Kardamyli. Kosta was an exceptional host, super friendly and communicative. Definitely recommend.
If you are looking for a basic, clean room in a good location then go with Kalamitsi hotel. It was not something extraordinary but met the basic requirements of our stay, plus it had AMAZING breakfast!
